Google Maps Portfolio Demo Build

I’m preparing a targeted application for a “Google map task” position and want to walk in with a polished, working demo that proves I can handle location-based queries with ease.

The single feature I must showcase is Location Search, and it has to return solid results for businesses, landmarks, and residential addresses alike. A lightweight web page or small script that taps the Google Maps / Places API is perfect, as long as it runs reliably and is easy to explain during an interview.

What I expect from you
• A clean, self-contained demo (HTML + JS or a small framework of your choice) that sends a query, displays matching places on the map, and lists key details (name, address, type).
• Clear setup notes: where to place the API key, how to run the file locally, and any rate-limit caveats I should mention.
• Brief talking points or code comments so I can describe the logic confidently.

Acceptance criteria
– Searches for “coffee shop”, “Eiffel Tower”, or a street address each return accurate pin drops and basic info.
– Page loads quickly and remains within free-tier limits for most test runs.
– Code is tidy, commented, and ready to hand over as part of my application packet.
