English <> Mandarin Voice Translation Project

Overview

We’re looking for Native English speakers for a paid voice recording project. The purpose of the project is to identify gaps in communication between languages and help improve translation quality in real-world conversations. Please note your voice will NOT be used for the purposes of AI voice cloning. There is also no requirement for you to have experience with voice acting, all are welcome.

You will have a natural conversation in English with another participant who will speak to you in Mandarin. You should be able to understand their Mandarin responses and reply comfortably in English, noting you must be able to hold a conversation in your field of expertise.

You will participate in a few short 5-15 minute recorded conversations via an online meeting platform (Riverside FM) around various topics in your field of expertise. There will be a voice director present to provide conversation prompts. The total length of the conversation will take between 2-3 hours. This is a paid project and budget allocation is based on level of industry experience. To clarify, the recordings will not be used for any AI purposes, it will be human to human analysis.

We’re looking for people to fill various industry categories across a range of fields.

First and foremost, we’re looking for someone who can fill the role of a “friend”, so can be anyone who understands Mandarin at a conversational level.

We are also looking for people who have real working industry experience in any of the following categories:

- HR
- Software Engineering
- PR
- Customer Support
- Commercial Client (ie. someone hiring a subcontractor for commercial purposes)

Casting Requirements
- English must be your first and primary language. A good example is someone born in an English speaking country with Chinese heritage, or who has learnt Mandarin proficiently
- Any accent is fine just native English speakers only
- You must be able to understand Mandarin at a worthy conversational level and respond in English.
- You will have a quiet, noise-free environment for the recording session.
- Can record on phones or other devices
- You may be located anywhere in the world, however ideally in Asia - Pacific due to timezones
- There is no requirement to have prior experience with voice acting.

- Your location
- Your proficiency with Mandarin, and how you learnt Mandarin
- Your field of expertise and how many years experience you have
- If comfortable, a resume will assist greatly to determine your level of experience
