I run a small web development studio in Italy (PHP, Laravel, WordPress, e-commerce) and I am hiring a commercial consultant for one short, focused job.
The technical side is solid: real projects, real companies, delivered and running. The commercial side is where I need help. I am building my client base through online channels from scratch, competing with studios that show years of history, and I want to buy a few hours of thinking from someone who has already solved this problem for themselves.
I am not looking for marketing theory, a course, or a strategy deck. I want one person who has done it recently, in the last year or two, and can tell me what they did and what it cost them.
WHAT I WANT ANSWERED
1. How did you get your first 10 paying clients online? What kind of work, what size, what price, and how did you find them.
2. Did you deliberately work below your rate at the start? By how much, for how long, and what made you stop?
3. What did you do in that phase that you would not do again?
4. Before you spend an hour writing a quote, how do you tell whether that prospect will actually hire someone and pay? What exactly do you look at? I lose most of my time on people who were never going to hire anyone.
5. When the competition all looks the same on paper and most of them are cheaper than you, what actually made a client pick you instead?
6. How long did it take you to stop competing on price, and what changed when you did?
7. Then go through my public profile and one of my recent proposals with me, and tell me what to change in them. Concrete edits, not principles.
HOW TO APPLY
A generic proposal gets no reply. Include:
1. Your own numbers, in your own words: how many paying clients you had twelve months ago and how many today, and roughly how many of your quotes turn into paid work. Real figures, even ugly ones. No screenshots needed, I will take your word for it and then test it with questions.
2. One sentence: starting from zero today, with no track record at all, what would you go after tomorrow morning?
Start your reply with the word COLDSTART, so I know you read this all the way down.
FORMAT
No video calls. Everything in writing, in the chat. If you would rather show something on screen, record it and send me the video, I will watch it.
I want a back and forth with a person, not one long document dropped in the chat and goodbye.
I will ask follow up questions and I expect them answered.
BUDGET
The budget here is deliberately small, and I am telling you upfront what it covers: the written answers to the seven points, and the exchange where we go through my profile and one of my recent proposals.
It is an entry ticket, not what I think your experience is worth. From here I cannot tell who has really done this and who is repeating what they read somewhere, so I pay small to find out, and I raise it on this same job as soon as your answers hold up. After that I keep coming back to you, paid, as I put your advice to work and bring you the results.
I am hiring one person. No shortlist, no interviews, no unpaid samples.
