Our client, a Malaysian innovator intends to file a Utility Innovation (UI) application using Patents Form No. 14 for an improved version of the existing tilting sterilizer (details will be provided later) . The core improvement is the addition of a vibration or air-pulse assisted discharge system near the outlet to prevent bridging and improve discharge reliability.
The patent agent requires complete, accurate and well-organised technical information to prepare the specification, drawings, single claim and abstract. This brief sets out exactly what the engineering team must prepare.
2. Summary of the Proposed Innovation
Modification: Vibration means and/or air-pulse means located near the outlet of the tilting sterilizer, activated during the discharge phase.
Purpose: To facilitate gravity-assisted flow of treated fruit bunches, prevent bridging/congestion at the outlet, reduce manual intervention, and improve operational reliability and cycle time.
3. Required Deliverables from Engineer
3.1 Technical Description Document
Please prepare a clear written document (Word or PDF) covering the following sections:
A. Problem Statement
• Describe residual discharge problems still experienced with the original design (bridging, incomplete discharge, need for manual clearing, etc.).
B. Detailed Description of the New Feature
• Exact location of the vibration units or air-pulse nozzles relative to the outlet gate, vessel wall and support frame.
• Type of system selected (mechanical vibration only, pneumatic air-pulse only, or combination).
• Mounting method (welded brackets, bolted, clamped, etc.).
• Power source and control method (manual switch, automatic activation linked to the hydraulic tilting cylinder, PLC timer, pressure switch, etc.).
• Operating sequence – when the system is activated and deactivated during the discharge cycle.
• Any safety interlocks or features (e.g., cannot operate when inlet/outlet gates are closed, emergency stop).
• Key component specifications (vibrator model/force rating, air pressure range, nozzle size, etc.).
C. Advantages / Benefits
• List all practical benefits (smoother discharge, reduced labour, shorter cycle time, less fruit damage, higher reliability).
D. Preferred Embodiment
• Describe the best working version currently planned or already prototyped.
• Note any alternative embodiments that should also be covered in the description.
3.2 CAD Drawings (Critical)
Please prepare the following CAD drawings. Supply both native CAD files (preferably .dwg or .dxf) and clean PDF versions suitable for patent filing.
