We are launching a UK-based online tutoring business focused initially on GCSE students, with plans to expand into A-Level and other education services.
We are looking for an experienced Lead Generation Specialist / Digital Marketer to take responsibility for acquiring new customers.
Start date: 1 October 2026
This is intended to become a long-term ongoing role for the right person.
What we need
Our target customer is primarily:
* Parents/guardians of UK GCSE students
* Year 10 and Year 11 students
* Initially focused on GCSE Maths
* Parents looking for regular online tutoring
* Parents concerned about grades, exams or upcoming assessments
Your job will be to help us consistently generate genuine, qualified enquiries from UK parents who are interested in purchasing tutoring.
We are not looking for purchased lead lists or generic contact databases.
We want someone who understands how to turn marketing activity into actual paying customers.
Your responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
* Developing a lead-generation strategy
* Identifying the best target audiences
* Researching competitors and the UK tutoring market
* Selecting appropriate acquisition channels
* Creating and managing campaigns
* Developing advertising/outreach messaging
* Testing different offers
* Generating and qualifying leads
* Tracking lead sources
* Managing the lead pipeline
* Monitoring conversion rates
* Optimising campaigns
* Providing weekly performance reports
* Recommending how we should scale successful campaigns
Potential acquisition channels include:
* Facebook/Instagram
* Google Ads
* Organic social media
* Local/community marketing
* Parent communities
* Partnerships
* Referral campaigns
* Content marketing
* Other legitimate lead-generation methods you believe would work
You do not need to use all of these. We want you to recommend the channels you believe have the greatest potential.
What we care about
We are much more interested in quality and conversions than simply generating large numbers of leads.
For example:
100 leads → 5 qualified → 1 customer
is potentially less valuable than:
30 leads → 15 qualified → 6 customers.
We therefore want to track:
* Leads generated
* Qualified leads
* Cost per lead
* Cost per qualified lead
* Customer conversion rate
* Customer acquisition cost
* Revenue generated
* Return on advertising spend
* Overall profitability
What you will have available
We are building the business infrastructure before launch, including:
* Brand
* Website/landing pages
* CRM
* Student management
* Tutor management
* Client management
* Pricing and offers
* Online tutoring service
* Internal business management system
Your primary responsibility will be customer acquisition.
Ideal candidate
We would particularly like to hear from candidates who have:
* Proven lead-generation experience
* Experience generating customers for service businesses
* Experience with paid advertising
* Experience with Facebook/Instagram or Google Ads
* Experience with UK audiences
* Experience with education/tutoring businesses
* Strong understanding of conversion funnels
* Strong analytical skills
* Experience managing campaigns independently
Tutoring/education experience is not essential if you can demonstrate strong results in another service-based industry.
Important
We are looking for someone who can think and make recommendations, not someone who simply waits for instructions.
You should be able to look at the business and say:
“This is the audience I would target, this is the offer I would test, this is the channel I would use, this is how I would measure it, and this is how I would improve it.”
The successful freelancer will have considerable autonomy over the lead-generation function.
First 30 days
The first month will focus on:
Research → Strategy → Setup → Testing → Optimisation
You will initially research the market and competitors, establish the acquisition strategy, launch initial campaigns and use the data to determine what works.
We are not expecting a guaranteed number of customers on day one. We want to establish a repeatable and scalable acquisition system.
Long-term opportunity
The initial target is to build a strong base of GCSE students and then expand into:
* GCSE Maths
* GCSE English
* GCSE Science
* Other GCSE subjects
* A-Level
* Exam preparation
* Revision programmes
* Additional education services
If you can successfully build the customer acquisition side of the business, there is significant potential for this to become a long-term management role as the company grows.
