I’m putting together a very early, stripped-down open-world game in plain JavaScript and need a working prototype that focuses on a single loop: gather a resource, place a block, repeat. Think of it as a tech test rather than a content-heavy build—the world can be a simple infinite plane, placeholder textures are fine, and elegance in the code is more important than visual polish at this stage.
You’ll receive two items from me the moment we start: a concise design brief and a PDF containing reference sketches that define the minimalist look and UI flow. The PDF also shows how I’d like the building and crafting actions to feel, so please follow that as the style guide.
Here’s what I need back:
• A browser-ready project (HTML, JS, CSS) that boots without additional tooling.
• Basic first-person or over-the-shoulder movement with WASD and mouse.
• A simple inventory/hot-bar, drag-free, for placing or removing predefined blocks.
• A flat or procedurally extending terrain that accepts the blocks anywhere on its surface.
• External asset folder so I can swap textures or models later, plus clean, well-commented code.
If I can download the files, open index.html, move around, place blocks, and see no console errors, the milestone is done.
