About the Role We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Scheduler to join our project controls team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the planning, development, and maintenance of complex project schedules for large-scale rail and heavy civil infrastructure projects. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the accurate reflection of construction activities, identifying potential risks, and providing insightful analysis to support successful project delivery. This is a full-time, remote position within California, with some travel required for client meetings and project site visits. Key Responsibilities Detailed Schedule Development: Provide planning, development, and maintenance of intricate project schedules, including the meticulous detailing of construction activities from preliminary and conceptual plans through to final design. This involves identifying and correlating program schedule activities with associated design plans. Duration Estimation & Verification: Develop detailed construction activity durations, clearly defining the basis for each estimate. Continuously update schedule data and durations as design progresses, ensuring the basis for construction element durations is well-documented and verifiable. Progress Monitoring & Reporting: Prepare periodic updates and comprehensive documentation for Program/Project Controls leadership regarding project progress, schedule duration changes, and the basis for duration verification. Schedule Assumptions & Identification: Document all schedule assumptions and the general basis for schedule development. Proactively identify key items that may not be explicitly included in core schedules, such as utility relocations, environmental/seasonal restrictions, or long-lead procurements. Schedule Review & Analysis: Perform in-depth review and analysis of current in-progress construction schedules, comparing them with future planned schedules to identify and assess variances in duration estimates. Risk Identification & Assessment: Conduct thorough reviews and analyses of project schedules for reliability, actively identifying, reviewing, and assessing potential risks. This includes providing recommendations for increasing schedule reliability and pinpointing the longest path and critical schedule items. Reporting & Support: Generate various reports as required under the direction of the Scheduling Manager or Program Schedule Lead, providing clear and concise schedule insights. Forensic Scheduling Support: Assist in providing analysis and reports for schedule-related claims and disputes, including delay, disruption, and acceleration claims. Qualifications/Requirements Experience: A minimum of 10 years of extensive scheduling and project controls experience on large-scale infrastructure projects, and 5 years of experience supporting rail and transportation projects. Scheduling Software Proficiency: Advanced proficiency and hands-on experience with Primavera P6 for program and project schedule development, management, and analysis. Construction Knowledge: Deep understanding of structures construction means, methods, staging, procurement, and various disciplines. This includes specific knowledge of: Rail and rail systems construction, Rail and roadway tunnel construction, Rail and roadway bridge construction, and Retaining wall systems. Analytical Skills: Proven ability to develop detailed construction schedules from preliminary and/or conceptual plans, identify and document associated schedule risks, and provide recognizable and understandable work activities and sequences.
