I’d like a complete children’s picture-book manuscript aimed squarely at the 3-to-5-year-old crowd. The story should be light, fun, and firmly rooted in an age-appropriate sense of adventure—think curious protagonists, gentle suspense, and a satisfying, upbeat resolution a preschooler can grasp after one reading.
Word count can sit in the typical picture-book range (roughly 400–700 words), broken into clear spreads so an illustrator can see where page turns land. Because I plan to commission cartoonish artwork, each scene needs vivid visual cues: expressive characters, colourful settings, and actions that practically stage themselves for lively, animated illustrations.
Deliverables
• Manuscript in an editable format (Google Docs or Word)
• A simple page-by-page illustration brief highlighting the main action, setting, and emotions meant for each spread
• Short back-of-book blurb and author’s note (2–3 sentences each)
Acceptance criteria
• Language, sentence length, and narrative structure suitable for pre-readers and early listeners
• Clear adventure arc with a gentle moral, no heavy lecturing
• Text clean of grammar and spelling errors, ready for layout
If you have experience writing for this age group, especially in an adventure vein, I’ll appreciate seeing a sample. Let’s craft something memorable for little explorers!
