We are a small German nonprofit animal welfare foundation and are looking for an experienced WordPress freelancer to redesign and modernize our existing website:

The website already contains extensive content and should not be rebuilt completely from scratch. We want a professional WordPress relaunch with a cleaner structure, modern and emotional design, better mobile usability, and a much stronger focus on our animal welfare projects and donations. The payment systems, set up by the previous agency, are working fine and do not require changes.
The current navigation is too extensive and should be simplified considerably. We are considering a structure such as:

The DONATE button should be clearly visible.
The homepage should feature a large emotional animal image, our foundation name, and our message:
“Without detours – directly for the benefit of animals.”
It should then present a small number of current projects with strong images and short descriptions, followed by measurable impact, animal stories, information about the foundation, and a clear donation call to action.
Our current projects include support for an animal shelter in Andratx, food and supply donations, support for an animal clinic, and the care of cats and donkeys in Mallorca as well as animal welfare projects in Germany.
The donation page should also be redesigned to become a real donation landing page, explaining clearly what donations achieve and making it easy for visitors to support our work.
We are looking specifically for a freelancer with:
- Strong WordPress and Elementor experience
- Experience with NGO, nonprofit or charity websites
- Good UI/UX and web design skills
- Experience with German or European clients
- Responsive/mobile design experience
- Basic SEO and performance optimization
- Ability to work with our existing WordPress website
- Ability to create a homepage mockup before full implementation
We prefer an individual freelancer or very small team rather than a large agency.
Please provide 2–3 examples of NGO/nonprofit websites and, if possible, websites created for German or European clients.
