Website Star Rating Module

I want to add a clean, lightweight star-rating feature to my website so visitors can quickly score our products without having to sign up or log in. Only the rating itself is required—no text comment box, no user registration, and no authentication flow.

The widget should:
• Display five selectable stars beside each product entry.
• Submit the chosen rating via AJAX (or similarly smooth method) to avoid page reloads.
• Store each rating in my existing MySQL database, associating it with the correct product ID.
• Show an updated average rating and total vote count immediately after submission.

Please keep the markup and scripts modular so I can drop the widget onto any page template. Pure JavaScript or a compact library such as jQuery is fine; no bulky frameworks. A brief README that explains table structure, files to upload, and one example integration snippet will complete the job.

Acceptance criteria: the average updates instantly, duplicate ratings from the same session are blocked with a simple cookie check, and the code passes an HTML5 validation scan with no critical errors.
