VSCode ESP-IDF Workspace Setup

I already have ESP-IDF fully installed and building fine from the macOS command line, but inside VS Code I still see red squiggles on perfectly valid headers and the auto-complete is hit-or-miss. I work exclusively in the built-in VS Code terminal, so your solution has to run there—no separate Terminal.app or iTerm2 workflows.
What I’m after
• A clean C/C++ IntelliSense experience: no false error highlights, real-time function and macro completion, and quick “Go to Definition/Declaration” across the whole ESP-IDF tree.
• Seamless build-flash-monitor tasks invoked from the VS Code command palette or the integrated terminal.
• All config files (.vscode/ settings, c_cpp_properties.json, compile_commands.json, launch.json, and any required extensions) ready to drop into my project so future workspaces behave the same.
Acceptance criteria
1. Opening main/hello_world in VS Code shows zero IntelliSense errors.
2. Ctrl/Cmd + Click jumps to esp_log.h without complaining.
3. idf.py build, flash, and monitor run from the VS Code terminal with the correct environment sourced automatically.
Please deliver the necessary configuration files plus a concise walkthrough of what you did, so I can repeat the setup on new projects. A short live screen-share to verify the result on my Mac would be ideal but not mandatory.
