I am running a fairly mature openHAB 2.x installation and I’m ready to move it to the current 3.x release. The goal is a seamless, zero-data-loss migration that keeps my existing setup intact while letting me take advantage of the new, cleaner user interface.

What absolutely must survive the process are the bindings and add-ons I already rely on, along with my customized sitemap/HABPanel layouts and any other UI tweaks. If a binding has a newer 3.x equivalent, I’d like it transitioned rather than replaced.

I will handle basic backups beforehand, but I’m looking for someone who can:

• Install or guide the installation of openHAB 3.x on the same Linux host (or suggest a smoother path if you think a parallel install plus swap-over is safer).
• Migrate the userdata and conf folders, resolving any breaking-change syntax issues in rules or things files.
• Verify that every existing binding comes back online and that all dashboards load correctly.
• Walk me through final checks so I can confirm the enhanced UI is fully operational and all items, things, and scenes behave as before.

Acceptance criteria are simple: the system boots into openHAB 3.x with no errors in the log, each previously installed binding shows a healthy state, and my user interface looks and functions just as it did—only better.

If you’ve already moved other users from 2.x to 3.x and know the common migration pitfalls, your experience will be invaluable here.
