Steel Procurement & Logistics Oversight

I’m looking for a hands-on specialist who can take full ownership of material procurement and preparation for my current steel structure job. The fabrication drawings, quantities and preferred suppliers are ready; what I need now is rock-solid follow-through to make sure the standard steel sections and plates leave the vendor on time and arrive at my workshop in perfect condition.

Your focus will be the logistics and delivery side of procurement:
• Confirm the purchase orders with the chosen stockists or mills and lock in realistic dispatch dates.
• Track every shipment door-to-door, coordinating with freight forwarders, customs agents and the workshop receiving team so there are no surprises.
• Verify heat numbers, mill test certificates and packing lists against the bill of materials before anything is released for fabrication.
• Issue concise, daily status updates highlighting any real or potential delays and the corrective actions you’ve triggered.

Experience with structural-steel supply chains, MTC review, Incoterms and common ERP or tracking tools (SAP, Oracle, Trimble, Excel-based trackers—whatever you like to work in) will be essential. If you have previously shepherded multi-truck or container loads of beams, plates and fittings into fabrication shops, that’s exactly the background I’m hoping for.

Deliverables are straightforward: a live tracking spreadsheet (or dashboard), scanned/photographed QA documents for each heat/lot, and a brief close-out report once all material is on site.
