About the role
Budibase is hiring Senior Software Engineers to help build the next generation of our open-source platform. Budibase has 28k GitHub stars and is used by teams around the world to build apps, automate workflows, connect to data, and use AI agents to get operational work done.
We’re looking for experienced, product-minded engineers who can take ownership of significant product and technical problems and drive them through to production.
Why join Budibase
Build an open-source product with 28k GitHub stars
Work across apps, automations, AI agents, integrations, and platform problems
Own substantial pieces of product and technical work
Help shape technical decisions and how we build
Work in a small, experienced engineering team
Fully remote, with regular company get-togethers
Optional 4-day work week
£65k–£80k + stock options
24 months runway and close to profitability
What you’ll work on
You’ll join one of our product engineering teams and take ownership of substantial parts of Budibase.
That could include:
Building and evolving our app-building experience
Developing our workflow and automation capabilities
Building AI agents that can reliably use tools, data, and automations
Designing and building integrations with external systems and APIs
Improving performance, reliability, security, and permissions
Solving technical and architectural problems as the platform grows
Building product experiences that make complex capabilities easy to use
We’re a small engineering team. Senior engineers at Budibase are expected to be hands-on and close to the product. You’ll have significant autonomy over how problems are solved and will work directly with product, design, and other engineers to decide what we build and how we build it.
The kind of person we’re looking for
We’re looking for an experienced Software Engineer with strong engineering fundamentals and good product instincts.
You might be a good fit if you:
Have significant professional software engineering experience
Have strong JavaScript or TypeScript fundamentals
Are comfortable working across frontend and backend
Have owned substantial product or technical work from problem through to production
Can work effectively with ambiguity and make sound technical decisions
Care about usability, reliability, maintainability, and product quality
Can break complex problems into pragmatic solutions and ship them
Can identify when a system needs deeper technical investment and when a simpler solution is sufficient
Use AI coding tools and are actively exploring how AI changes software development
Communicate technical decisions clearly and work effectively with product, design, and engineering
What success looks like
You’ll become an owner of significant parts of Budibase rather than simply contributing individual features.
You’ll take ambiguous product and technical problems, understand the underlying need, help determine the right solution, build it, and get it successfully into users’ hands.
Over time, we’d expect you to raise the quality of the engineering around you, through the decisions you make, the systems you build, and the way you work with the rest of the team.
