# Direct-Response VSL Editor / Motion Designer
We're looking for an experienced **direct-response VSL editor / motion designer** to cut a Video Sales Letter for a sports-betting data platform.
This is a direct-response sales video, not a corporate explainer. We need someone who understands how to hold attention, build an argument visually, and use product demonstration, motion graphics and on-screen text to make a case — not just to decorate one.
## Scope
| Deliverable | Detail |
|---|---|
| Primary VSL | 6:10–6:40, [16:9] |
| Cutdown | ~90 seconds, [aspect ratio] |
| Exports | Web-ready, plus editable project files |
| Motion assets | Source files for all graphics built |
**Timeline:** [dates]
**Budget:** [range]
## What the edit involves
Roughly ten sequences alternating **presenter footage** with **real product screen recordings**, plus:
- **One extended mobile walkthrough**, around 45 seconds, shot on a real phone in real time. No speed-ramping, no fake taps, no cutting around latency. This is the single most important sequence in the video and it has to feel unstaged.
- **A cold open with no voiceover** — graphics and screen footage only, carrying the opening idea before anyone speaks.
- **15–20 discrete motion-graphic moments**: highlighting specific figures on a live interface, hand-drawn-style circles and arrows, large numerical comparisons held on screen, simple animated charts, animated text statements, product callouts, an offer card, and section transitions.
- **Burned-in Brazilian Portuguese captions** throughout. Supplied timed and locked — you do not need to speak Portuguese, but you do need to handle accented characters correctly and proof against the supplied text.
- **A persistent CTA overlay** across the full runtime.
The graphics exist to make the argument easier to follow. Anything that only decorates gets cut.
## Editing style
Fast and engaged without becoming gimmicky. No excessive zooms, meme cuts, speed-ramping or generic social-media effects. The product and the argument stay in focus.
Product demonstration is central — we want viewers watching the actual platform being used, not generic animations or static screenshots.
## How the project is built
**The script is locked and heavily specified.** It states what appears on screen at each moment, which sequences may not be trimmed, and which may. You'll be working to it rather than interpreting freely.
**Some footage is captured late.** Parts of the product footage are recorded live shortly before the edit and will replace placeholders, so you need to be comfortable working with real, late-arriving material rather than building everything from static assets supplied up front.
**The edit must be modular.** Individual prices, product screens, graphics and one optional inserted clip need to be swappable later without rebuilding the video. Structure the project accordingly.
## We provide
Approved script with on-screen direction · presenter footage · product access and screen recordings · brand assets · creative direction.
## Who we're looking for
Freelancers or small teams with real experience in some combination of:
- Direct-response VSLs
- SaaS or product sales videos
- Performance marketing creative
- Founder-led sales video
- Screen-recording-heavy edits
- Motion graphics integrated with live product footage
## To apply
- 3–5 relevant examples, ideally combining **presenter + product UI + screen recording + motion graphics**
- Your role on each, and whether you handled editing, motion design or both
- Rate or range, and estimated turnaround
- Software and workflow
- Revision rounds included
Shortlisted candidates will be asked to cut a **paid 30–45 second test** from one section of the script before we commit to the full project.
**What matters most:** we're looking for someone who understands direct-response storytelling, not someone who can make a video look polished.
