WordPress Maintenance & Security Specialist – Azure Hosted Website
We are looking for an experienced WordPress developer/administrator to provide ongoing maintenance, security, and troubleshooting for an existing WordPress website hosted on Microsoft Azure App Service for Linux.
The website is currently operational, but we need a reliable specialist to ensure it remains secure, updated, stable, and fully functional.
Main Responsibilities
Perform a complete malware/security review and ensure the website is clean.
Use our existing MalCare subscription or other reputable security tools where appropriate.
Investigate and remove malicious files, backdoors, unauthorized users, suspicious cron jobs, or database injections.
Update and maintain:
WordPress core
Plugins
Themes
Replace compromised plugin/theme files with clean official versions when required.
Maintain and troubleshoot Elementor / Elementor Pro and other installed plugins.
Resolve functionality or compatibility issues caused by plugin, theme, PHP, or WordPress updates.
Test important site functionality after updates, including pages, forms, Elementor editing, media, navigation, login/admin functionality, and responsive layouts.
Review and maintain appropriate WordPress file/folder permissions.
Apply standard WordPress security hardening and prevent malware reinfection.
Review administrator accounts, WordPress salts, credentials, and security settings when required.
Maintain backups and ensure a valid backup exists before significant changes.
Troubleshoot caching, broken URLs/assets, PHP errors, and WordPress application issues.
Provide basic documentation of significant changes and issues resolved.
Azure Environment
The website runs on Microsoft Azure, so experience with WordPress on Azure App Service for Linux is important.
Experience with the following is highly preferred:
Azure App Service
Azure Database for MySQL Flexible Server
Azure Front Door / WAF
Azure App Service logs / SSH
Linux file permissions
Azure networking / Private DNS
Backup and restore procedures
You should also be able to investigate situations where Azure WAF or infrastructure settings interfere with legitimate WordPress or Elementor functionality.
Maintenance Approach
For significant updates or changes, we prefer:
Backup → Test/Staging → Update → Validate → Production
Updates should not simply be applied without verifying that the website continues to function correctly.
Security Requirements
No nulled, cracked, or unofficial plugins/themes.
Use official/vendor plugin and theme packages.
Follow reasonable WordPress and Azure security best practices.
Do not permanently disable security controls such as WAF simply to resolve application issues.
Identify root causes of recurring security or application problems where possible.
Required Experience
Please apply if you have strong experience with:
WordPress administration and troubleshooting
WordPress malware cleanup and security
Elementor / Elementor Pro
Plugin/theme compatibility troubleshooting
Linux-based WordPress hosting
Microsoft Azure App Service or similar cloud-hosted WordPress environments
Engagement
We are looking for someone who can initially review, secure, update, and stabilize the website, and then potentially continue with ongoing WordPress maintenance and support.
When applying, please briefly describe:
Your WordPress security/malware cleanup experience
Your Elementor experience
Your experience running WordPress on Microsoft Azure
Similar maintenance projects you have handled
