I’m preparing the next growth phase for my company and have decided to concentrate resources on product development—specifically the design and prototyping stage of a new offering that’s now at concept level. I need a clear, actionable plan that tells me exactly how to move from sketches and rough ideas to a validated prototype we can present to investors and early customers.
What I’m looking for
• A concise roadmap that breaks the design-to-prototype journey into realistic milestones, including recommended tools or platforms (e.g., SolidWorks, Figma, 3D printing services) and the typical timelines and costs attached to each step.
• Guidance on material choices, manufacturability considerations, and how to structure an iteration loop for user feedback.
• Risk analysis and mitigation tactics so I understand where delays or budget overruns are most likely to occur.
• Any quick-win suggestions that could shorten the time to our first functional prototype without compromising quality.
To be considered, please send a detailed project proposal outlining your approach, the specific deliverables you would hand over at each milestone, and the expertise or methods you would use to keep the project on schedule. If you have relevant case studies or examples of prototypes you shepherded from design through fabrication, feel free to reference them inside the proposal itself.
My goal is to choose a partner who can map out a pragmatic path to a prototype we can confidently put in customers’ hands—on time and on budget.
