THE ROLE
The Patient Access service line is responsible for selling, creating, and delivering solutions and professional services to meet client needs. With mentorship from their direct supervisor, the Senior Consultant will work closely with healthcare providers on financial and operational improvements. Through thoughtful and excellent communication, the Senior Consultant is responsible for achieving engagement milestones, producing quality deliverables, supervising and training junior colleagues, as well as contributing to SAS solutions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
A Senior Consultant will be responsible for, but not limited to:
Overseeing daily execution of project initiatives while simultaneously providing guidance and support to junior colleagues
Producing data-driven outcomes, summaries, and recommendations by leveraging reports and dashboards from internal and client sources (e.g., data warehouses, industry benchmarks, and internal methodologies)
Guiding and reviewing data analysis to identify areas of opportunity and develop proposed solutions to healthcare providers, including acute, surgical, and ambulatory settings
Delivering solutions to clients based on proven Nordic SAS methodologies in multiple aspects that enhance patient access to care, including provider schedule templates, pre-arrival workflows, referral orders, patient satisfaction, financial clearance, and process automation
Displaying creativity and critical thinking in solving problems, and quickness to comprehend new analysis techniques
Operating simultaneously as resourcefully independent and a collaborative team member
Developing detailed financial analysis, statistical reports, resourcing assessments, visualizations, and presentations for both the internal team and client review
Facilitating the growth and development of less experienced team members by teaching them the technical tools and operational knowledge of the practice area and providing opportunities for them to take ownership of certain aspects of the project
Influencing the actions and opinions of others in the desired direction while exhibiting judgment in leading others to worthwhile objectives
Maintaining a high level of integrity
Independently owning key engagement workstreams with minimal oversight, such as:
Developing and updating related work plans, issue logs, status reports, and related initiative trackers
Creating high-quality internal and client-ready deliverables such as agendas, presentations, analytics, and actionable next steps
Producing high-quality written communication and exhibiting high-level verbal presentation skills
Reviewing and validating conducted analyses and client deliverables before submission
Leading teams and initiatives to completion, achieving engagement results, including financial net revenue and operational improvements, if applicable
Conducting client interviews and facilitating client meetings
Developing current- and future-state process flows depicting business process improvements
Conducting detailed analyses to proactively identify specific opportunities for improvement, as well as implementation recommendations
Designing deliverable content to communicate analysis findings appropriately
Presenting findings and recommendations to project and client leadership
Anticipating project risks and providing timely communication to project leaders along with a proposed plan for addressing identified risk
Completing quality reviews on team-member work products before delivery to client
Validating team-member findings and observations and overseeing team member process improvement and analytic activities
Consistently delivering work products that are high quality and client ready
Participating in SAS practice development initiatives, including knowledge capital and tool development
Representing Nordic in thought leadership and presentations regarding Nordic’s SAS solutions
Maintaining a positive, professional attitude and proactive approach
Ability to make strategic recommendations to help clients identify market shifts and industry trends
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required, with a preference in business, healthcare administration, or industrial engineering
4+ years of in-depth healthcare experience in one or more Patient Access functions:
Referrals and provider orders management
Scheduling and provider template optimization
Authorizations and registration
Defined accomplishments achieved during their healthcare experience
Excellent client communication skills, collaborative work style, and good interpersonal skills
Excellent organization skills with strong attention to detail
Must demonstrate and embody Nordic’s maxims
Flexible; able to quickly adapt to changing priorities and working with different employees and clients
Proficient with Microsoft Office products and other collaboration tools, including virtual meeting and cloud technologies
Must be able to work independently as well as within a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
Ideal candidates will have experience in management consulting and the healthcare industry, specifically within patient access, front-end revenue cycle, and/or digital front door.
EHR technical experience in one or more of the following access-related applications:
Epic Cadence, Referrals, MyChart, Prelude, Grand Central, and ADT
Meditech Authorization & Referral Management (ARM)
Relevant Oracle Health (Cerner) applications
In addition, experience in these areas will be given additional preference:
Patient contact center centralization
Patient access strategy
Patient self-scheduling
Digital front door technologies
Process automation and exception-based workflows

Relocation to Madison, WI, is not required
Travel 10 - 50% of the time
