On-Site Network Equipment Support

I need an experienced hands-on engineer to spend a day at our client’s site, acting as my eyes and hands while we finalize a network refresh. The job centres on Cisco routing and switching gear, but you will also touch the firewalls and wireless access points in the same rack.

What you will do on site
• Check in with the local contact, then perform a visual inspection of every router, switch, firewall and AP in the rack, confirming power, cabling, and link lights.
• Connect via console for the health checks defined in my step-by-step procedure (I will send this playbook in advance).
• Be on standby for possible device installs or re-mounts—final scope is still being confirmed, so bring basic mounting tools just in case.
• Patch, label and tidy any copper or fibre runs exactly as instructed by the remote engineering team.
• Run our quick connectivity tests, capture screenshots or terminal output, and photograph the finished rack from multiple angles.
• Stay online with us through UAT; once we give the all-clear you’ll collect the local sign-off, compile your completion report and leave site.

Deliverables
1. Completed health-check checklist (template provided).
2. Clear photo set of installed equipment and cabling.
3. Change log of any cabling or hardware actions.
4. Signed UAT/hand-off sheet.

Acceptance criteria
All checklist items passed, photos verify clean cabling and correct port usage, and the remote team confirms stable connectivity before you leave the premises.

Skill set you’ll need: solid Cisco CLI, console access know-how, neat cabling skills and the calm troubleshooting mindset typical of remote-hands work.
