Project title
Physical Concept Car Model Builder – NeuroDrive X1 Investor Presentation Prototype
Job posting
I am looking for an experienced physical model maker / automotive prototype builder / 3D printing specialist to create a professional physical scale model of my original concept vehicle, the NeuroDrive X1.
IMPORTANT: I am NOT looking only for a 3D render, animation, STL file or digital CAD model.
The freelancer must be able to take my existing colour sketches, concept drawings, technical reference images and available 3D files, refine/create the necessary 3D model, and then physically manufacture, assemble, paint/finish and ship the completed model to me in the UK.
Purpose of the model
The finished NeuroDrive X1 will be used for:
* Investor presentations
* Potential customer/consumer presentations
* UK product demonstration events
* Photography and promotional material
* Demonstrating the vehicle concept to potential development/manufacturing partners
This is a non-functional presentation model, not a road-going vehicle prototype.
Vehicle concept
NeuroDrive X1 is an original accessibility-focused future mobility concept intended to explore transportation for people with disabilities and different mobility/sensory requirements.
I already have colour concept artwork, sketches, technical-style drawings and some 3D reference files.
The freelancer does not need to invent the concept from scratch. I need someone capable of translating the existing design into a convincing physical model.
Physical model requirements
My preferred starting size is approximately 1:18 scale / 268 mm long, although I am open to recommendations.
The finished model should ideally include:
* Sleek silver NeuroDrive exterior
* Smooth professional body finish
* Dark panoramic roof/glazing
* Detailed wheels and tyres
* Front and rear lighting/lens details
* NeuroDrive branding/badges
* Simplified visible interior if achievable
* Representation of the wheelchair/accessibility entrance or ramp
* Professional assembly and finishing
* Small black presentation/display plinth if budget permits
The model can be produced using SLA/resin printing, FDM, CNC, acrylic, styrene, model-making board, resin casting or a hybrid construction method.
I am interested in the best visual result rather than expensive internal engineering.
Budget
Target maximum budget: £500 GBP for this first presentation model.
Please explain exactly what you can provide within this budget.
If certain features would exceed £500, please separate them as optional upgrades rather than quoting an entirely different high-budget project.
I may commission larger or more sophisticated NeuroDrive models later if the first model is successful.
Deliverables
I would like:
1. Review of my existing drawings and 3D files.
2. Refined 3D model/CAD suitable for manufacturing.
3. Digital renders/screenshots for my approval before physical manufacture begins.
4. One completed physical NeuroDrive X1 model.
5. Professional sanding, preparation, painting and finishing.
6. Assembly of the model.
7. Secure packaging.
8. Shipping/delivery to the UK.
9. Final STL/OBJ and preferably STEP/STP files created specifically for the project.
10. Editable/source CAD file where possible.
Please provide evidence of physical work
When bidding, please send photographs of physical models/prototypes you have personally manufactured.
Automotive scale models, concept cars, industrial-design prototypes, exhibition models and professionally painted 3D prints are particularly relevant.
Please clearly state:
“YES – I can manufacture and ship the finished physical model.”
if you can provide this service.
Applicants offering only rendering/CAD/animation without physical manufacturing are not what I am looking for for this particular project.
Confidentiality / NDA
The NeuroDrive concept, drawings and associated design information are original project material.
The selected freelancer must be willing to sign an NDA/confidentiality agreement before receiving my most detailed or editable design information.
My confidential drawings, CAD files, images and specifications must not be sold, publicly uploaded, redistributed, licensed to another customer or used to manufacture products for other parties without my written permission.
I would also like the project agreement to clearly establish the agreed ownership/licensing arrangements for CAD and design files specifically commissioned and paid for through this project.
Skills
Useful experience includes:
Physical model making, automotive modelling, prototype manufacturing, 3D printing, resin printing, CAD, Fusion 360, SolidWorks, Rhino, Blender, automotive design, product design, SLA/FDM printing, model painting, airbrushing, sanding/finishing, acrylic fabrication and exhibition model making.
When submitting your proposal
Please tell me your location, examples of previous physical models, proposed manufacturing method, model size you recommend for £500, whether painting/finishing is included, whether UK shipping is included, approximate turnaround time, which CAD files I receive, and whether you will sign an NDA.
Please do not bid if you can only provide digital renders. I need the completed physical model delivered to me.
