Fix Health Connect

I have an existing React Native (Expo) Android app that already includes a Health Connect module, yet there is ome permission issues. The root of the trouble appears to be permissions: even after the user grants access, the app cannot read or persist the data. I need you to dive into the current implementation, track down exactly why those permissions are failing, and rebuild the flow so the app can request, obtain, and reliably read the user’s step counts on any modern Android device running the latest Google Play services.

While you are inside the codebase, I would also like you to tidy up a lingering screen-loader glitch. The loader occasionally hangs and gives the impression that the app is frozen; once the Health Connect fix is in place, the loader should transition smoothly and disappear as soon as the data is ready.

Deliverables (all must be met):
• Updated, well-commented code that requests and confirms Health Connect permissions, then pulls step data without error.
• A brief test plan or screen recording showing the full user journey: first-time permission grant, subsequent launches, and continuous step retrieval.
• A snappy, non-blocking loader that reflects real loading state and releases control immediately once data arrives.
