I need a lightweight Windows executable that imports bank statement entries from a structured Excel sheet directly into TallyPrime. The workbook will always include six columns in this order: Date, Narration, Deposit (Rs), Withdrawal (Rs), Bank name (GL), and Offsetting Ledger Name (GL).
The program should run on any current Windows environment (7, 10, 11) without extra installs—preferably a single .exe created in C#, VB.NET, Python + PyInstaller, or any language you’re comfortable compiling to native Windows. When the user selects an .xlsx file, the tool must:
1. Validate each row for the proper date format (dd-mm-yyyy or yyyy-mm-dd), numeric values in the amount fields, and non-blank ledger names.
2. Flag and skip any row that fails the check, returning a clear on-screen log so the user can correct and re-upload.
After validation, the application should push the clean entries into TallyPrime, mapping Bank name and Offsetting Ledger Name to their respective ledgers, then confirming the successful import count. You may employ Tally’s ODBC, XML import, or any other reliable bridge—whatever guarantees stability inside TallyPrime.
Deliverables
• Stand-alone .exe with an intuitive GUI (browse button, progress bar, and status log).
• Brief user guide (PDF or DOC) covering installation, field requirements, and error messages.
• Source code is welcome but optional—let me know if providing it changes your approach.
I’ll test by uploading a sample file and reviewing the Voucher list in TallyPrime; rows that break validation must stay out, and valid rows must arrive intact. Let’s keep the workflow smooth, minimal clicks, and dependable for daily bookkeeping.
