Convert Books to Illustrated ePub

I have a collection of my mom’s books in print and I want each one faithfully reproduced as an ePub file. Every page—text, photos, illustrations, captions—needs to appear in the digital version exactly as it does in the original, only cleaner and optimized for e-readers.

Here’s the workflow I have in mind:
• High-resolution scanning of every page, followed by OCR to keep the text selectable and searchable.
• All images kept at good quality, placed in the same positions they occupy in the print layout.
• Editing and reflow to make sure paragraphs, headings, page breaks, and table of contents behave properly on tablets and phones.
• Conversion carried out with Adobe Acrobat in the pipeline, as that is the tool I’m familiar with for reviewing intermediate PDFs before you export to ePub.
• Final delivery: a separate, fully validated ePub file for each book plus the intermediate Acrobat files so I can see how everything was assembled.

Please keep footnotes, page numbers (if they matter to references inside the text), and any decorative chapter openers intact. Once each ePub passes basic validation and a quick visual check from me, we’re done.
