Title: Victorian Building Designer and Permit Coordinator – Ongoing Work
We are seeking an experienced building designer and permit coordinator to manage the complete post-sale documentation and building approval process for a range of standard expandable cottages in Victoria, Australia.
This is not simply a drafting job.
We need a reliable person who can take each customer project from initial site information through to completed plans, consultant coordination and building permit approval.
Our business has established 20ft, 30ft and 40ft expandable cottage models. The core designs are standardised, but each project requires site-specific documentation, coordination and approval.
The successful applicant will initially complete one paid pilot project. If successful, this will become consistent ongoing work involving approximately two new cottage projects per week.
Responsibilities
* Review our existing master cottage plans and engineering documentation
* Identify missing or non-compliant information
* Prepare complete Victorian Class 1a building permit drawings
* Adapt standard cottage documentation to individual customer sites
* Coordinate structural and civil engineers
* Coordinate energy assessments, BAL reports, soil tests and land surveys where required
* Determine what documentation is required for each property
* Prepare and coordinate building permit applications
* Liaise with private building surveyors and other consultants
* Respond to requests for further information
* Manage amendments and outstanding documentation
* Track each project through to building permit approval
* Provide clear written progress updates
* Maintain accurate project records and checklists
* Take responsibility for ensuring every project continues moving
Essential experience
* Demonstrated experience preparing Australian residential building documentation
* Strong knowledge of the National Construction Code
* Experience with Victorian Class 1a building permit requirements
* Experience dealing with Victorian building surveyors
* Strong AutoCAD or Revit skills
* Experience coordinating engineers and other building consultants
* Experience responding to permit RFIs
* Excellent communication and project-management skills
* Reliable availability and fast response times
* Ability to manage approximately two new project files per week
Highly regarded
* Current Victorian registration as a Building Designer – Architectural
* Experience with modular, prefabricated or expandable buildings
* Existing relationships with Victorian engineers, building surveyors or energy assessors
* Experience developing standardised documentation systems for volume builders
* Professional indemnity insurance

14. Please provide two examples of complete Australian residential permit-documentation packages you have prepared.
