At LGC, our purpose is simple but powerful: Science for a Safer World. Every day, our work helps improve healthcare, advance scientific discovery, and ensure the quality and safety of products that impact millions of lives globally.
We're looking for an experienced German Accounting & Tax Manager to join our finance team during an exciting period of transformation and growth. This is a fantastic opportunity for a technically strong accounting and tax professional who enjoys combining strategic oversight with hands-on leadership and problem-solving.
In this role, you'll take ownership of statutory accounting, tax compliance, and reporting for our German entities while partnering with colleagues across Europe and the wider global business. You'll play a key role in ensuring financial integrity, driving continuous improvement, and supporting critical finance initiatives.
What you'll achieve
Lead German statutory accounting and reporting
Own the preparation of annual statutory financial statements for our German entities
Lead and support a team of General Ledger Accountants, helping them deliver high-quality results
Partner with our outsourced accounting provider to resolve complex issues and improve processes
Manage annual external audits and ensure the smooth delivery of all reporting requirements
Oversee month-end close activities, journal approvals, and financial statement reviews
Act as the key escalation point for accounting-related queries across the business
Drive tax compliance and advisor relationships
Coordinate German corporate income tax filings with external advisers
Support tax audits across corporate tax, VAT, and property tax
Build strong relationships with tax authorities and external partners
Ensure compliance with withholding tax requirements and reporting obligations
Support IFRS tax reporting, including current and deferred tax provisions
Lead monthly tax reconciliation activities and identify opportunities for improvement
Support strategic finance projects
Help implement and maintain transfer pricing arrangements
Monitor tax and regulatory developments, ensuring the business remains compliant
Support treasury activities, including payment reviews and cash repatriation initiatives
Act as Finance Lead for key projects, including banking migration activities and user acceptance testing
What we're looking for
You'll be a qualified accounting or tax professional with strong knowledge of German statutory accounting and tax regulations. Just as importantly, you'll enjoy collaborating with others, solving complex challenges, and driving improvements that make a real difference.
You'll bring
Strong experience in German accounting, statutory reporting, and tax compliance
A solid understanding of IFRS and German GAAP
Experience working with external auditors and tax advisers
Previous people leadership or mentoring experience
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
A proactive mindset and a passion for continuous improvement
Fluency in both German and English.
