About the Role The Principal Examiner is responsible for ensuring that the standards of externally assessed units/modules/components are maintained and consistent with the unit specification and assessment criteria. The role involves overseeing the standardisation of Examiners. At Pearson, we are committed to a world thats always learning. Key Responsibilities Ensure the timely delivery of contracted unit(s)/module(s)/component(s). Update the mark scheme/guidance before the pre-standardisation meeting. Lead meetings such as pre-standardisation and standardisation. Select and mark items for validity as agreed at the pre-standardisation meeting. Mark an allocation of live candidatesresponses for quality assurance. Prepare and collate materials for standardisation. Support supervisors and examiners. Sample supervisors/examinersinitial marking and backread responses. Monitor progress of supervisors/examiners. Review responses sent for clarification. Act as a senior point of escalation across the quality assurance process. Monitor and report to the Assessment team after standardisation and completion of marking. Support in awarding activities by writing reports to the Awarding Committee. Complete the Senior Assessment Associate review process. Submit reports on the series/candidate performance. Provide support and written responses to complaints where required. Qualifications/Requirements Required Experience and knowledge of quality assurance and assessment practice. History of moderation and/or marking a regulated qualification. Excellent communication skills. Proven ability to provide and co-ordinate training such as standardisation. A comprehensive knowledge of the specification for your specialist sector. Desirable High level of IT proficiency. Leadership experience in delivering qualifications. Knowledge of regulatory compliance and requirements. Report writing within a regulated industry. Experience And Qualifications A minimum of one full academic year of teaching experience in the relevant subject area/sector within the last 8 years and/or extensive knowledge and experience in Pearson assessment, quality and processes and national standards within the last 5 years. Relevant CPD evidence in the subject area/sector within the last 12 months. A UK recognised teaching qualification. Degree (for General Qualifications).
