ABOUT THE APP
SubCav is a free app that helps youth soccer coaches (called football in most countries) manage substitutions so every player gets equitable playing time. It is live on the Apple App Store and Google Play ("SubCav: Soccer Substitutions"). Coaches set up a roster, plan a game, run the game live on the sideline with a timer and substitution alerts, and share a live view with parents.
WHAT I NEED
A thorough hands-on test of the whole app on real phones, and a written report of:
1. Bugs: anything broken, crashing, hidden, cut off, confusing, or behaving differently on different phones.
2. Improvements: anything that is slow, hard to find, unclear, or that a coach on a busy sideline would struggle with.
Additionally, not required but greatly appreciated: any suggestions you would recommend for improving the app, such as features you would expect to find but that are missing. If you have coached or played youth soccer, or used other team or sports apps, your comparisons are especially welcome.
SCOPE
- Every screen: login, roster and player details, schedule, game setup (field layout, position restrictions, substitution setup), the live game screen, stats, gallery, settings, and help screens.
- Run at least two complete games from setup to finish, including halftime.
- Pay special attention to: the keyboard covering text boxes, buttons hidden under the phone's status bar or notch, screens that cannot be closed, text that is cut off, and anything that looks different between iPhone and Android.
DEVICES
Tell me exactly which phones you will test on (model and operating system version). I am looking for a spread: older and newer iPhones, and a mix of Android phones (not only Samsung, and ideally at least one older or mid-range model). Testers who can cover more than one phone are preferred.
You must be able to download apps from the US App Store and US Google Play store.
ACCOUNTS AND DATA RULES (please read)
- Create your own account at app.subcav.com, then sign in on the phone app. Use the "Try a demo team" option, or create your own test team and name it starting with "QA -".
- Do NOT enter anyone else's name, email, or phone number. For parent contact fields, use only your own details or leave them blank. The app can send real text messages.
- Do NOT leave ratings or reviews for SubCav on the App Store or Google Play.
- Do NOT attempt security testing, hacking, or load testing of the servers. This is a usability and bug test only.
BUG REPORT FORMAT (required for every bug)
- Phone model and operating system version
- The "Update ID" shown in the app under More > Help & About > About > Details for support
- Steps to make it happen, numbered
- What you expected vs. what happened
- Screenshot or screen recording
- Severity: Blocker (cannot continue / crash / stuck on a screen), Major, Minor, or Cosmetic
DELIVERABLE
One report (spreadsheet or document) with all bugs in the format above, plus a separate list of improvement suggestions. Include the list of phones you tested on.
Put optional feature suggestions in their own section at the end of the report.
