Overview
We run ~12 WordPress sites on a single Web Hosting Canada (WHC) VPS with cPanel/WHM, all fronted by Cloudflare. The sites were recently migrated, and we're looking for an experienced performance engineer / sysadmin to optimize the full stack (server, PHP, and Cloudflare caching) and clean up post-migration issues. This is hands-on work on a live cPanel/WHM environment. We want someone who genuinely knows this stack, not a generalist.
Current environment
WHC VPS, cPanel/WHM (likely CloudLinux + EasyApache 4)
Apache with per-site PHP versions (MultiPHP), PHP-FPM
~12 WordPress sites
Cloudflare in front of every zone, with cache rules, WAF, rate limiting, security headers and bot management already partially configured
MySQL
Scope of work
Tune Apache (MPM, PHP-FPM pools, mod_lsapi, OPcache) for concurrency and memory efficiency across multiple sites
Optimize PHP: correct versions, OPcache, per-site FPM pools, resource/LVE limits, and resolve missing PHP extensions flagged after migration
Configure Cloudflare caching properly for WordPress: "cache everything" cache rules with correct bypass for wp-admin and logged-in cookies, edge TTL strategy, tiered cache, and evaluate APO
Diagnose and fix Cloudflare loopback / origin latency
Tune MySQL/MariaDB (buffer pool, slow queries, config)
Clear all WordPress Site Health warnings across the sites
Set up object caching (Redis/Memcached) + caching plugin where appropriate
Deliver before/after benchmarks (TTFB, cache-hit ratio, load tests) and document every change
Must-have
Deep hands-on cPanel/WHM admin (EasyApache 4, MultiPHP, WHM tweak settings)
Strong Apache + PHP-FPM tuning
Real Cloudflare expertise: cache rules, origin rules, APO, TTL strategy, WAF and cache interaction
Multi-site WordPress performance optimization
MySQL/MariaDB tuning
Comfortable on production Linux (root/WHM), careful, with documented changes
