About the project
We have developed TeamFrame, a functioning People Operations software application intended for startups and growing SMEs in the UAE. Our initial target customers are businesses with approximately 20-50 employees, particularly organisations without a dedicated HR department. We already have an established application covering core HR administration and everyday People Operations workflows. We are now looking for an experienced HR technology professional who can help us make TeamFrame substantially more valuable, practical, competitive and attractive to prospective customers.
What we want to achieve
Our ambition is to establish TeamFrame as a compelling alternative to established HR software providers such as Bayzat, Zoho People, Deel and other relevant platforms. However, our intention is not to copy every feature offered by these companies. We want to identify opportunities to deliver a better experience for our specific target customers. We are interested in understanding: what makes growing UAE businesses choose one HR software product over another; what valuable capabilities, experiences or operational improvements might we be overlooking; how could TeamFrame help a company manage everyday HR more effectively, even without specialist HR staff; how could we make the product easier to adopt, more useful to operate and more compelling to purchase; and what could meaningfully differentiate TeamFrame within its intended market. We welcome innovative thinking and insights drawn from real experience.
IMPORTANT - What we are NOT looking for
This is NOT a software development or technical review assignment. We do not require coding or application development, source-code reviews, technical architecture assessments, cybersecurity audits, generic QA or bug testing, another visual design audit, generic feature-comparison reports, or generic AI-generated recommendations. We already have our own development resources. We also recognise that larger HR platforms offer payroll, recruitment, attendance tracking, immigration services and other extensive capabilities - these are deliberately outside our present product scope. We are not seeking obvious recommendations such as "add payroll", "add recruitment" or "add attendance tracking". We want someone capable of thinking beyond conventional HR software feature lists, and interested in strengthening the product's actual value rather than merely increasing its number of modules.
We want YOU to propose the approach
We do not want to prescribe exactly how you should undertake this assignment. We believe an experienced professional may propose an approach or identify opportunities that we have not considered. Therefore, we invite you to explain how you would use your knowledge and experience to help us achieve our objective. You may recommend an approach involving HR operational analysis, product-experience assessment, competitive positioning, workflow improvement, practical HRIS expertise or another methodology you believe would provide greater value. The choice of methodology is yours. However, your final work must provide specific, practical and actionable findings that our internal development team can use to improve TeamFrame. We do not require a predetermined number of recommendations - we value substantive insights and well-explained improvements over long reports or large lists of obvious suggestions.
Relevant experience
We are particularly interested in professionals who have: practical experience with HR administration in UAE companies; hands-on experience implementing, operating or improving HRIS platforms; familiarity with Bayzat, Zoho People, Deel or comparable HR software; experience supporting growing SMEs or companies with limited HR resources; and understanding of HR software adoption, customer expectations and operational challenges. You do not need to have worked for these particular software companies. However, you should demonstrate meaningful, relevant experience rather than general familiarity with HR terminology.
What to include in your proposal
Candidates will be shortlisted primarily based on their proposed approach, supported by evidence of relevant experience. Please address the following in your proposal:
1. How would you approach this assignment? Explain how you would investigate opportunities to make TeamFrame significantly more useful and commercially attractive for our target market. We are interested in your reasoning, not generic consulting methodologies.
2. What would you deliver? Explain what tangible recommendations, findings or other outputs we would receive within the available budget. Be realistic about the depth of work you can undertake - we are not measuring value by the number of report pages or recommendations.
3. What relevant experience do you have? Tell us which HR software platforms you have personally worked with and in what capacity. If possible, describe one previous example where you helped a company improve its HR processes, HR software adoption or HRIS experience. You may anonymise client details.
4. How would you avoid obvious feature-gap recommendations? We already know that payroll, recruitment and attendance modules exist. Explain how you would look beyond such conventional features to identify more meaningful opportunities for TeamFrame.
5. What would you need from us? Explain whether you would need a product walkthrough, screenshots, limited fictional-data access, documentation or other materials. No source-code access or real customer data will be provided.
Scope and deliverables
This is a recommendations-only engagement. We will implement approved improvements ourselves. The selected freelancer must deliver their findings in writing, in a form we can retain and act upon. Recommendations should be specific enough to understand the current issue or opportunity, the proposed improvement and why it would matter to our customers, and should distinguish commercially important improvements from optional ideas. We welcome all substantive findings within the agreed scope, but we do not want repetitive or generic advice. The final scope and deliverables will be agreed before awarding the project, based on the selected freelancer's proposal.
Budget
Maximum freelancer bid: US$140 fixed price. Our total employer budget is US$150, including applicable platform charges. Please propose what meaningful work you can deliver within that limit. We are not seeking software development, and we do not expect a lengthy consulting engagement. Written communication is preferred; meetings are not mandatory.
Shortlisting criteria
We will prioritise candidates who demonstrate: relevant practical HRIS and HR operations experience; a thoughtful approach tailored to TeamFrame's specific market; realistic, clearly described deliverables; an ability to identify useful improvements beyond obvious HR software modules; and strong commercial understanding and practical judgment. Generic cover letters, unsupported claims of expertise, feature wish lists and proposals that simply recommend adding payroll, recruitment or attendance will not be shortlisted. We are interested in the quality of your thinking and the value you can deliver - not the length of your proposal.
