I want to commission an original children’s book manuscript aimed squarely at the 0-3 year age range. The tone must stay light, playful and highly visual while delivering clear Educational value around one key theme: Alphabet and Numbers.
Scope of the manuscript
The text should introduce every letter A–Z alongside the numbers 1–10 in a way that feels natural for a board-book format. Think short, rhythmic lines that invite a parent or caregiver to read aloud and point to pictures. Each spread should pair a single letter or number with a concrete, toddler-friendly object or action (for example “B is for ball” / “2 little ducks splash”). No complicated story arcs are necessary—clarity, repetition, and sensory language are the priorities.
Style & length
• Simple wording: mostly one- or two-syllable words
• Sentence count: roughly 2–3 very short sentences per spread
• Total length: 28–32 pages (standard for board books), plus a title page and end page suggestion
Deliverables
1. Manuscript in editable Google Docs or Word format
2. A spread-by-spread breakdown indicating the featured letter or number and the corresponding visual cue
3. Brief illustrator notes (one line each) describing the scene or object to ensure text–image harmony
Acceptance criteria
• Text is age-appropriate for 0-3 years and clearly teaches Alphabet and Numbers
• Consistent rhythm and read-aloud friendliness across every spread
• No more than 120 total words (excluding title and back-cover copy)
• Delivered in the agreed file format, ready for designer/illustrator hand-off
If you have experience scripting board books or early learning materials, I would love to see a short sample or portfolio link with your bid.
