I’m putting together a board-book-length story for toddlers (0-3 years) that captures a sense of gentle adventure—think first discoveries, little surprises, and the thrill of exploring a brand-new world. I already know I want the visuals to feel realistic rather than cartoony, so the text needs to inspire clear, true-to-life scenes an illustrator can mirror with lifelike detail.

What I need from you is a complete manuscript written specifically for very young listeners and early page-turners: short, rhythmic sentences, plenty of onomatopoeia, and a structure that invites parents to point to objects and sounds. Because the images will play such a big role, I’d also like a brief line of illustration guidance beneath each page of text so the artist can instantly see what is happening in the scene.

Deliverables
• 200–300 word story broken into page spreads (roughly 10–12 spreads)
• Simple illustration notes for each spread matching the realistic style
• Final manuscript in both Word and PDF

I’ll provide quick feedback on tone, vocabulary, and pacing as we go, and I’m happy to work iteratively until the flow feels just right for tiny adventurers and their caregivers. If you have experience writing for the toddler market, especially adventure-themed board books, I’d love to hear how you approach rhythm, repetition, and page-turn suspense.
