# STAR-CCM+ CFD Engineer – Submarine Surfacing & Rudder Analysis

I am looking for an experienced CFD engineer specializing in **Siemens Simcenter STAR-CCM+**, preferably with a background in naval architecture, marine hydrodynamics, or submarine motion simulation.

The project consists of two parts.

### Part 1: Submarine Emergency Surfacing Simulation

I already have a BB2 submarine model and existing STAR-CCM+ simulation cases.

The main tasks are:

1. Investigate and resolve the roll-motion issue in my existing simulation. When roll motion is enabled, the submarine behaves abnormally and disappears from the longitudinal VOF visualization after moving out of the water.
2. Implement emergency surfacing simulations with roll motion under still-water and wave conditions at initial depths of 10 m, 20 m, and 30 m. The wave parameters should be adjustable.
3. Perform numerical validation of the submarine model using relevant experimental data. If suitable validation data cannot be found for the existing model, we can discuss using another model.
4. Build a simple rectangular compartment model and compare two surfacing methods: compressed-air blowing to discharge water and equivalent virtual-force loading.

### Part 2: Rudder Effect Analysis

Based on the submarine model developed in Part 1:

1. Add rudders to the submarine model.
2. Investigate different rudder shapes, areas, and angles.
3. Analyze their effects on submarine pitch and surfacing attitude.
4. Evaluate whether modifying rudder parameters can improve the submarine's surfacing attitude.

The detailed requirements for Part 2 will be discussed further.

### Required Experience

Relevant experience in the following areas would be particularly valuable:

- STAR-CCM+ CFD simulation
- Naval architecture and marine hydrodynamics
- VOF and free-surface multiphase flow
- DFBI / 6DOF rigid-body motion
- Overset mesh and dynamic mesh
- Wave modeling and wave-body interaction
- Submarine hydrodynamics and emergency surfacing
- Numerical and experimental validation
- Rudder and control-surface hydrodynamics

### Schedule

- Part 1: Target completion by October 31, 2026.
- Part 2: Target completion by November 30, 2026.

### Deliverables

Editable and runnable STAR-CCM+ simulation files, corresponding simulation results, numerical validation results, and analysis results for both parts, in accordance with the detailed project requirements.

I can provide the existing STAR-CCM+ simulation files, detailed requirements, and reference papers.

**Please provide:**

1. Your relevant STAR-CCM+ CFD project experience.
2. Examples of similar simulations, if available.
3. Your estimated cost for Part 1 and Part 2 separately.
4. Your estimated completion time for each part.

I am looking for someone with genuine hands-on experience in this type of CFD simulation.
