We’re looking for a creative video editor to turn our raw footage into engaging, high-quality social media recruitment videos for Byrd Electrical, a premium residential electrical company based in Melbourne, Australia.

The purpose of these videos is to attract experienced A-grade electricians who want more from their workplace than simply turning up, rushing through jobs and going home.

ABOUT THE AUDIENCE

Our primary audience is qualified electricians, particularly tradesmen in their 20s and early 30s. Many of the electricians we want to reach may:

• Feel undervalued or unappreciated by their current employer
• Be frustrated with poor leadership or workplace culture
• Be tired of rushing between basic real estate maintenance jobs
• Want enough time to complete work properly
• Want to take pride in the finished result
• Want better support, structure and opportunities
• Enjoy working as part of a close, high-performing team
• Want to work for a business that recognises great work

The videos should speak directly to these frustrations and position Byrd Electrical as the workplace they’ve been looking for.

ABOUT BYRD ELECTRICAL

We specialise in premium residential electrical work throughout Melbourne’s Bayside area.

Most of our projects are completed within one day, giving our electricians variety while still allowing them to stand back at the end of the day and feel proud of what they have accomplished.

This is residential electrical work, and we want the content to be honest about that. Sometimes the work can be dirty or challenging—but it is always satisfying when it is done properly.

Our electricians are supported, trusted and given the time and resources required to deliver excellent work. We are serious about high standards, communication, personal development and building an outstanding team culture.

THE CREATIVE DIRECTION

We want videos that feel authentic, energetic and relatable—not like generic corporate recruitment advertisements.

Each video needs a strong hook within the first one to three seconds. The hook should immediately capture the attention of an electrician who may be unhappy or unfulfilled in their current role.

Potential hook angles include:

• “Sick of being told to just get it done and move on?”
• “When was the last time your boss actually appreciated your work?”
• “You became an electrician to be proud of your work—not rush through five jobs a day.”
• “Good electricians deserve a workplace that backs them.”
• “Still punching out the same real estate maintenance jobs every day?”
• “Imagine being given the time to do the job properly.”
• “Sometimes it’s dirty—but the finished result is always worth it.”
• “If you take pride in your work, you’ll fit in here.”
• “Your boss shouldn’t be the reason you dread Mondays.”
• “Melbourne A-grade electricians: this could be the change you’ve been waiting for.”

We want the editor to help identify the strongest moments in the supplied footage, develop hooks, structure the story and create videos that hold attention.

VIDEO STYLE

The content should:

• Be fast-paced and engaging without feeling overproduced
• Use a strong opening hook
• Include clean, modern captions throughout
• Showcase our electricians, completed work, team culture and personality
• Combine on-site footage with team and social footage where appropriate
• Use suitable music and sound effects
• Feel genuine, confident and masculine without becoming cheesy or aggressive
• Be formatted primarily for Instagram Reels, Facebook, TikTok and recruitment advertising
• Include a clear call to action for qualified electricians to apply or contact us privately

We want to sell the complete opportunity—not just the job. This includes pride in workmanship, variety, team support, culture, recognition and enjoying the people you work with.

FOOTAGE

We already have raw footage ready to supply. This includes footage of our team, electrical work, completed projects and company culture.

If additional footage, interviews, voiceovers or specific shots would improve the videos, please tell us exactly what you need. We can arrange and record additional content quickly.

INITIAL DELIVERABLES

Please provide pricing for:

• One initial recruitment video as a trial
• A recommended ongoing package of short-form videos
• Vertical 9:16 formatting
• Videos approximately 20–45 seconds long
• Captions and on-screen text
• Music and sound effects suitable for commercial use
• Colour correction and audio enhancement where required
• A clear call to action
• Reasonable revisions
• Delivery of editable project files and final exported videos

We would also appreciate variations of the strongest videos with different opening hooks so we can test which messages perform best.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

The ideal freelancer will:

• Have experience editing short-form social media videos
• Understand strong hooks, pacing and audience retention
• Be able to turn raw footage into a compelling story
• Ideally have experience with recruitment, trade or construction content
• Be proactive and recommend improvements
• Clearly tell us what additional footage would make the content stronger
• Communicate well and deliver within agreed timeframes

TO APPLY

Please include:

Examples of your best short-form social media or recruitment videos
Any relevant trade, construction or employer-branding work
Your price for one trial video
Your expected turnaround time
Your recommended ongoing video package
A brief explanation of how you would approach the first three seconds of these videos

Please begin your application with the words “TAKE PRIDE” so we know you have read the complete project description.

We’re looking for somebody who can become an ongoing creative partner and help us consistently produce recruitment content that connects with excellent electricians.
