We are a Sydney human-centred design and delivery consultancy.
We are in the final stretch of a Shopify commerce build for a client, and the next release begins straight after this one goes live in roughly a month. We need to make things faster by adding a developer to our team. Next Release will be a substantial piece of work - likely a few months, and there are additional side projects that we may encounter. For this reason we are adding a second senior developer alongside our existing lead.
This is a real seat on the team, not overflow work. We need someone starting now.
The work
You start on front-of-site build. Content and marketing page modules, template work, forms, responsive states across breakpoints, and defect fixes through testing and launch. Design is complete and lives in Figma, so this is accurate build but based on a decent template base, not completely from scratch
From there, the deeper work will be needed. Our lead developer and designer will be present to talk you through and introduce the current work in progress.
The stack
Shopify Advanced. Liquid themes with JSON templates, sections, metafields and metaobjects. A custom integration hub built on Gadget.dev in Node, connecting Shopify to the client's ERP as the source of truth for product, stock and pricing. Third party apps for B2B ordering and freight rules.
What we need
Five or more years building Shopify in production. Liquid, JSON templates, sections and blocks, metafields and metaobjects. Shopify CLI, Git, feature branches, pull requests. Strong HTML, CSS and vanilla JavaScript. Node.js and comfort working with the Shopify Admin API.
Clear communication is pretty important, we need to build this so we could hand your notes to the client and if they wish they could continue.
How we work
Short daily stand up. Feature branches and pull requests, no direct commits to the working branch. A shared plan you keep current with your own status. Design review from our designer, so expect feedback and quick turnarounds.
If this sounds good or you want to discuss or ask questions about the job - please send me a note. In our current situation we will need to move quickly.
For this project i will need freelancers in Australia or NZ - close to the same timezone as Sydney and NZ to be a useful part of the team.
