Project Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Shopify developer to build a clean, elegant, and high-converting e-commerce store for our wine brand. The store needs to reflect a premium aesthetic, offer a seamless user experience, and include specific functional requirements for selling alcohol online (such as age verification and complex shipping rules).
Scope of Work:
Store Setup & Theme Customization: Install and customize a premium Shopify theme that aligns with our brand identity. The design must be elegant, modern, and highly visual.
Age Verification Gate: Implement a strict, legally compliant 21+ (or applicable legal drinking age) verification pop-up upon site entry.
Product & Collection Setup: Configure the product catalog (approx. 20-50 initial SKUs) with intuitive categories (e.g., Red, White, Rose, Sparkling) and advanced filtering (by Region, Grape Varietal, Price, and Pairing).
Payment & Shipping Configuration: Set up payment gateways that explicitly support alcohol sales. Configure complex, zone-based shipping rules to comply with regional alcohol delivery laws and package weight.
Mobile Optimization: Ensure the site is 100% responsive and offers a flawless checkout experience on mobile devices.
App Integrations: Install and configure essential apps for email marketing (e.g., Klaviyo), customer reviews, age compliance, and basic SEO.
Testing & Handover: Conduct thorough end-to-end testing of the checkout flow, site speed, and mobile UX prior to launch. Provide a brief handover training on managing orders and products.
Required Skills & Experience:
Proven track record of building and launching successful Shopify stores.
Prior experience with e-commerce in the food/beverage or alcohol sector is a major advantage.
Strong understanding of Shopify Liquid, HTML, CSS, and responsive design.
Knowledge of e-commerce regulations and payment gateway restrictions regarding alcohol sales.
Excellent communication skills and adherence to deadlines.
