We are looking for a senior lead developer to complete an initial controlled technical assessment of three connected parts of an existing luxury e-commerce system. Any repair work would be quoted, approved and contracted separately after the assessment.
1. An existing Python product and inventory scraper that collects permitted public product, price, variant and availability information from a UK luxury retailer and synchronises it with Shopify. It involves pagination, variants, duplicate control, scheduled runs, proxy/IP considerations, APIs and cloud hosting.
2. An existing custom Shopify checkout using the Revolut Merchant API and Cloudflare Workers. It requires secure server-side payment verification, amount and currency checking, duplicate-payment protection, Shopify order creation, refund handling and controlled production testing.
3. An existing internal business system, DLH-OS, involving APIs, databases, automation and AI-related features.
We prefer one lead developer who can understand all three systems together. Please clearly state any part you cannot personally handle.
The existing architecture should be assessed and preserved where practical. We are not seeking an automatic rebuild.
The first stage will be a detailed technical conversation. If we decide to proceed, the paid assessment must be read-only, time-limited and separately agreed. No live changes, deployments, credentials or production access will be provided during initial screening.
Please answer all of the following:
1. Describe your direct experience building or repairing production Python scrapers involving product variants, pagination, inventory updates, scheduling and proxy/IP issues.
2. Describe your direct experience with Shopify Admin APIs, custom checkout systems and external payment-provider APIs.
3. Have you developed Cloudflare Workers? Give a specific example.
4. How would you independently verify payment status, amount and currency before creating a paid Shopify order?
5. How would you prevent the same payment from creating duplicate orders?
6. Describe your experience with refunds and Shopify order synchronisation.
7. Can you inspect and repair an existing connected system rather than rebuilding it?
8. Will you personally perform the work? Disclose any team members or subcontractors.
9. Provide links or evidence for the most relevant completed projects.
10. Quote separately for a controlled read-only technical assessment and for any later repair work. Do not combine them into one unclear price.
Generic proposals that do not answer these questions will not be considered. No access or work is authorised merely by submitting a proposal.
