SharePoint Online Query Rules

I need a set of custom query rules configured in SharePoint Online to fine-tune search behaviour. The focus is on search queries only; navigation or content queries are not in scope. When users search, specific documents and selected web pages must surface at the top of the results as promoted results.

I will provide the library locations, keywords, and any managed properties you may need. Your job is to:

• create the rule(s) in the SharePoint Online Search Query Rules interface,
• map the triggering conditions and query terms to the assets I identify, and
• verify that the promoted documents and pages consistently appear above standard ranking for all relevant searches in the tenant’s modern search experience.

Acceptance criteria
• Promoted items (documents and pages) display first for the agreed terms across site, hub, and tenant scopes.
• No negative impact on existing result sources or ranking for unrelated queries.
• A short hand-off note describes the rule logic and where to adjust it later.

Experience with SharePoint Online search schema, query variables, and result blocks will help you complete this quickly. Once the rules are in place and demonstrated, the project is done. Experience of Powell and Intranets is a must.
