Project Title: EfficientIP SOLIDserver DDI Consultant (DNS, DHCP, IPAM): Senior Freelancer
Project Description:
We are looking for a senior freelance consultant to support enterprise DDI (DNS, DHCP, IPAM) projects built on EfficientIP SOLIDserver. You will work as a technical lead on client engagements covering architecture, deployment, migration and automation.
What you will do:
- Design resilient, secure DDI architectures across on-prem, hybrid and multi-cloud environments
- Plan and execute migrations from Infoblox, VitalQIP or Microsoft DNS/DHCP to SOLIDserver
- Automate provisioning using REST APIs, Terraform, Ansible and Python
- Configure DNS security features and integrate with SIEM and ITSM tools such as ServiceNow
- Produce design documents, run-books and handover training
- Mentor junior engineers and support pre-sales scoping when needed
What we need:
- 8+ years in networking or infrastructure, with 4+ years in DDI
- Strong DNS (BIND, Microsoft DNS, DNSSEC), DHCP failover and IPAM design skills
- Hands-on experience with an enterprise DDI platform (Infoblox, BlueCat or SOLIDserver)
- Scripting and API integration skills (Python or shell)
- Proven experience delivering at least one large migration or cutover
Nice to have"
- SOLIDserver certification or training
- AWS, Azure or GCP DNS experience
- IPv6, Zero Trust or SecOps exposure
- Background in telco, BFSI or healthcare projects
Engagement details:
- Type: Hourly or fixed-price milestones (open to discussion)
- Duration: Initial 2–3 months, with long-term work for the right person
- Location: Remote, with occasional client-site visits
- Start: Immediate or within 2 weeks
To apply, please include:
1. Your DDI projects, with platform, scale and your role
2. One migration or outage-recovery example, and what you would do differently
3. Your hourly or daily rate and availability
4. Any relevant certifications
Screening questions:
Architecture: A bank with 3 data centers and 40 branches needs DNS/DHCP for 20,000 devices. How would you design it for high availability and security? What would you avoid?
Migration: Walk me through migrating from Infoblox to SOLIDserver with zero downtime. How do you handle data mapping, testing, cutover and rollback?
Troubleshooting: Users report intermittent DNS failures, but the servers look healthy. What are your first five checks, in order?
Automation: How would you automate IP allocation and DNS record creation when a new VM is provisioned (for example via Terraform or ServiceNow)? What can go wrong?
Security: How would you detect and respond to DNS tunneling or data exfiltration? What logging and tooling would you use?
Bids without these details will not be shortlisted.
