Please begin your proposal with the words "Heavy Hires" so I know you've read the full job description. Generic AI-generated proposals will be ignored.

We're looking for an experienced full-stack developer to help us finish the final stage of our peer-to-peer heavy equipment rental marketplace.

The platform is already well developed. This is not a project from scratch. We need someone who can jump into an existing codebase, understand it quickly, finish the remaining features, clean up technical debt, and improve the overall user experience before launch.

This isn't a rushed project. We're far more interested in getting things right than getting them done as quickly as possible. We value quality, communication and attention to detail, so we'll need someone who's happy to work collaboratively and bear with us while we review changes and continue refining the platform.

Tech Stack
Ionic
React
NestJS
PostgreSQL

Experience with marketplace platforms, booking systems or SaaS products is highly regarded.

What You'll Be Doing
Final Feature Completion

There are a number of remaining features and pieces of functionality that need to be completed throughout the platform. These are generally well documented and will be explained during onboarding.

Technical Debt
Clean up existing code
Improve maintainability and consistency
Refactor where appropriate
Remove redundant or outdated code
Improve performance where possible
UX & UI Improvements

This is one of the biggest parts of the role.

We'll provide screenshots, screen recordings and dot-point lists of areas we'd like reviewed, but we're also looking for someone with strong product intuition who can identify opportunities themselves.

We want someone who naturally looks at a page and thinks:

This flow feels confusing.
This layout could be cleaner.
This section doesn't add value.
This button belongs somewhere else.
Users will expect this behaviour instead.
This page could feel much more premium.

We're after someone who genuinely understands modern UX and website flow—not someone who simply builds exactly what's written.

If you have an eye for design, usability and creating polished user experiences, that's a huge bonus.

Ideal Experience

We're looking for someone who:

Has strong experience with Ionic, React, NestJS and PostgreSQL.
Has worked on production SaaS products or marketplace platforms.
Understands clean architecture and scalable code.
Has a strong eye for UI/UX and visual consistency.
Pays close attention to detail.
Can make thoughtful recommendations instead of simply following instructions.
Communicates well and enjoys working collaboratively.
Can confidently work within an existing codebase.
Nice to Have
Marketplace or booking platform experience
Mobile-first development
Payment integrations
Maps and geolocation
Performance optimisation
Experience preparing products for launch
Working Style

We're not looking for someone who simply completes tickets.

We're looking for someone who enjoys improving products.

If you notice something that could be cleaner, easier to use, more modern or simply better, we'd love you to point it out.

Quality always comes before speed.

We're hoping to find someone who genuinely cares about the end product and takes pride in building software that feels polished and premium.

If things go well, there's a strong chance of an ongoing working relationship as Heavy Hires continues to grow.

Please include:

Examples of similar projects you've worked on.
Your experience with Ionic, React, NestJS and PostgreSQL.
