Job Title: Senior DevOps Engineer: Kubernetes & PostGIS Infrastructure
Project Overview:
We require a DevOps engineer to deploy and manage the infrastructure for a microservices-based spatial data platform. The system architecture relies on a unified PostgreSQL/PostGIS database serving specialized map tile, geocoding, and routing engines. The objective is to transition the current local build into a highly available, scalable production environment.
Core Technology Stack:
- Deployment: Docker, Kubernetes.
- Database: PostgreSQL 16 + PostGIS 3.4 (High Availability setup required).
- Backend Services: Martin (Vector Tiles), Pelias (Geocoding), Valhalla (Routing).
- API Gateway: Kong, APISIX, or Traefik.
- Observability: Prometheus, Grafana, Loki/ELK.
- Automation: n8n, CronJobs, bash/SQL scripts.
Required Deliverables:
1. Infrastructure Provisioning: Set up the hosting environment and configure Kubernetes clusters for horizontal scaling.
2. Database Configuration: Deploy a Highly Available (HA) PostgreSQL/PostGIS cluster with logical replication and automated backup protocols.
3. Service Containerization: Deploy Docker containers for Martin, Pelias, and Valhalla backend services.
4. API Gateway Setup: Configure Kong, APISIX, or Traefik to handle rate limiting, edge caching, API keys, and JWT authentication.
5. Monitoring Pipeline: Establish real-time telemetry and logging aggregation using Prometheus, Grafana, and Loki.
6. Pipeline Automation: Implement CronJobs and n8n workflows to automate scheduled data ingestion (osmium/osm2pgsql) and health checks.
Required Freelancer Qualifications:
* Proven track record deploying and managing Kubernetes clusters in production environments.
* Direct experience configuring High Availability PostgreSQL databases.
* Experience implementing modern API Gateways and configuring traffic rules.
* Prior experience with geospatial stacks (PostGIS, Martin, OSM data pipelines) is highly preferred.
