Revitalizing Harbour: Concept Design & 3D Visualization

We are looking for an experienced architect / landscape architect / 3D visualizer to develop a concept design for an existing harbour in Addu City, Maldives.

The harbour is already constructed. The objective is not to redesign or rebuild the harbour structure, but to develop a modern, attractive and functional waterfront concept around the existing harbour infrastructure.

The concept should demonstrate how the harbour area can be transformed into a vibrant public and commercial waterfront destination for residents, visitors, fishermen and tourists.

Scope of Work

The freelancer should develop a conceptual masterplan incorporating suitable facilities such as:

* Waterfront pedestrian promenade
* Attractive public seating and shaded areas
* Passenger waiting area
* Café / small restaurant
* Fish market and fish-selling area
* Fish butchery / fish preparation area
* Boat waiting and boarding area
* Sports fishing boat facilities
* Small commercial kiosks
* Traditional Maldivian boat / dhoni display area
* Landscaping and greenery
* Street furniture
* Pedestrian lighting
* Decorative harbour lighting
* Signage and wayfinding
* Parking / drop-off arrangements where appropriate
* Public toilets and basic supporting facilities
* Waste-management facilities
* Attractive waterfront railings and safety features

The design should make maximum use of the existing harbour infrastructure and should be practical for the Maldivian environment.

Design Direction

We are looking for a concept that is:

* Modern but suitable for Addu City
* Tropical and coastal in character
* Attractive during both daytime and nighttime
* Practical and commercially viable
* Suitable for residents and tourists
* Pedestrian-friendly
* Easy to maintain
* Appropriate for the Maldives’ tropical and marine environment

The design should have a strong Addu City identity rather than looking like a generic international marina or waterfront.

Required Deliverables

The selected freelancer should provide:

1. Concept Masterplan / Site Plan
2. 3D Conceptual Renderings
3. Minimum 3–5 different viewpoints
4. Daytime visualization
5. Night-time visualization with lighting
6. Waterfront / promenade perspective
7. Harbour-facing perspective
8. Concept views showing the proposed commercial and public facilities
9. Basic landscape concept
10. Basic material and architectural style references
11. Final high-resolution presentation images

If possible, provide the final concept in a format that can later be developed into detailed architectural and engineering drawings.

* Google Earth / satellite images
* Existing site information
* Existing harbour layout where available
* Measurements/site dimensions where available
* Reference photographs and design preferences

The freelancer must work around the existing harbour, unless a minor modification is specifically proposed and justified as part of the concept.

Ideal Freelancer

We are looking for someone with experience in:

* Waterfront / harbour design
* Landscape architecture
* Urban design
* Coastal development
* Marina or waterfront projects
* 3D architectural visualization
* Public-space design

Experience with tropical coastal environments or Maldives projects would be an advantage.

Important

This is a concept design project, not a full engineering or construction drawing package.

We are primarily looking for a visually impressive and realistic concept that can be used for presentation, stakeholder discussions, future funding proposals and further architectural development.

Please include examples of your previous waterfront, harbour, marina, public-space or coastal projects when submitting your proposal.

We are open to creative ideas, but the final concept must remain realistic, functional and suitable for the existing harbour.
