Reverse Engineering for Skincare Products

Cosmetic Formulator Needed — Reverse Engineering 6 Skincare Products (Deformulation)

Description

I'm developing a men's skincare brand and need a formulation chemist to reverse-engineer (deformulate) 6 reference skincare products. I'll provide the product names and ingredient (INCI) lists — I'm looking for a formulation-science-based reconstruction, not necessarily instrumental lab testing (though let me know if you offer that as well).

Products to deformulate (6 total):

Cleanser
Foaming face wash (exfoliating/acne-focused)
Sunscreen / UV protection milk
Moisturizer / lotion (barrier repair focused)
Toner (hydrating, hyaluronic acid-based)
Men's face wash

What I need for each product:

Master formulation table — ingredients, INCI names, and estimated percentage concentrations
Functional rationale for each ingredient (why it's there, what role it plays)
Batching/compounding instructions (phase order, mixing, heating/cooling steps)
Notes on acceptable substitutions or ranges
Basic product specifications (target pH, viscosity, appearance)
Packaging recommendations
Guidance on scaling the batch up for production runs

About me / project:

Idea-stage brand, currently in the R&D phase before contract manufacturing
I'll share the specific product names and their public ingredient lists once we're in contact
This is for competitive benchmarking and formula development for my own brand — not for replicating and reselling the reference products

What I'm looking for in a freelancer:

Background in cosmetic chemistry, pharmacy, or formulation science
Experience specifically with reverse engineering / deformulation from INCI lists (not just forward formulation)
Able to share redacted samples of past reverse-engineering work
Clear communication on methodology and turnaround
