Remote Data Cleaning Specialist

We're looking for someone to help us clean up spreadsheets. Our tables come from several sources and they need tidying: duplicate rows, inconsistent formatting, missing fields, and entries that don't match our rules. You'll work through a list of files we provide, fix what's clearly wrong, and flag anything that needs a decision from us.

We care more about care and consistency than about advanced Excel skills. If you can spot a duplicate, follow a rule, and keep track of what you changed, you'll fit in well. Training takes about half an hour, and we review your first files before you move on to the rest.

On a typical task you'll open a file from the list, check it against our cleaning rules, remove duplicates, standardize formatting, and fill in what can be filled in from the reference data we provide. You'll log what you changed in a short note and leave anything uncertain untouched for us to review.

What matters to us: attention to detail, the ability to follow rules and apply them consistently, basic comfort with spreadsheets (Google Sheets or Excel), and reliability, meaning you finish the files you take on and ask before guessing.
