Refine Shopify Free-Shipping Rules

Our Shopify store already offers free shipping on many products, but the rules are too broad. I need the logic tightened so that:

• an item’s weight, category and the customer’s destination all work together to decide if the “Free Shipping” rate appears
• heavy or oversized products fall back to real-time carrier rates, even when other items in the cart still ship free
• orders going to Hawaii, Alaska, or Puerto Rico never see the free-shipping option, regardless of what is in the cart

The store is live, so any changes must be applied in a way that prevents interruptions and preserves current rates for customers who still qualify. I’m open to using native Shopify Shipping Profiles, custom shipping zones, or an app such as Advanced Shipping Rules—whichever gives clean, maintainable results.

Deliverables
1. Updated shipping profiles or app configuration reflecting the weight, destination and category criteria above
2. Test scenarios documented (screenshots of checkout) confirming:
– qualifying items show “Free Shipping” in the continental U.S.
– non-qualifying items and all HI/AK/PR orders show only paid options
3. A short hand-off note so I can adjust thresholds or add new categories myself later
