Recover Lumix S5ii Footage

I’m facing a single-file disaster with my Lumix S5 II: the camera’s in-body rescue routine only spat out a 23 GB *.mdt file instead of the original 4 K 50 p H.264/AAC *.mp4. The card itself is perfectly readable on my computer, yet every player and editor refuses to open this MDT container.

Here’s what I did so far: I ran Panasonic’s own Lumix Recovery App—no luck, the file stays mute and black—so the data should still be intact but needs deeper parsing.

What I must end up with is a fully playable clip that keeps both picture and sound at their recorded quality; I can’t sacrifice audio to salvage video or vice versa. Whether you work with FFmpeg, Treasured, Grau, binary editors, or any proprietary hex-level wizardry is up to you, as long as the outcome is:

• one clean 4 K 50 p H.264 file (MP4/MOV)
• original AAC stereo track perfectly in sync
