PSS/E v34 Expert Needed – PJM BESS Dynamic Model Validation & Compliance Testing

Job Description
This is transmission Planning task!
We are looking for an experienced PSS/E v34 / PJM dynamic modeling engineer to assist with a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) interconnection dynamic-model validation project.

The project involves adapting and validating a WECC inverter-based resource dynamic model for a BESS project and completing the required PJM Dynamic Model Development Guideline (DMDG) testing and documentation.

Project Scope

The project currently includes a PSS/E power-flow case (.sav) and dynamic model file (.dyr).

The BESS is represented using the following WECC dynamic models:

REGCA1 – inverter/converter model

REECA1 – electrical controls

REPCA1 – plant controller

VTGDCAT – voltage protection

FRQDCAT – frequency protection

The BESS inverter is connected at Bus 300 (BARB-BES).

The dynamic model has already been adapted from a generic WECC template to the project topology, including correcting the model bus references and attaching the REGCA1/REECA1/REPCA1 models to the BESS bus.

Main Tasks

The selected engineer will help with:

1. Review the existing PSS/E .sav and .dyr files.

2. Verify REGCA1/REECA1/REPCA1 model connectivity and initialization.

3. Review and finalize model parameters based on the project power-flow ratings.

4. Configure the REPCA1 control settings, including appropriate voltage/reference/frequency control flags.

5. Verify dynamic initialization and resolve any initialization issues.

6. Develop/run the required PJM dynamic-model tests, including:

Flat Start / Flat Run

Voltage Ride Through (VRT)

Lagging Power Factor assessment

Leading Power Factor assessment

MFO / frequency-response assessment as applicable

7. Analyze PSS/E dynamic simulation results.

8. Produce required plots and result tables.

9. Review results against the applicable PJM DMDG requirements.

10. Assist with the Dynamic Model Report and Section 8.1 checklist.

11. Where practical, automate repetitive simulations and result extraction using Python/PSS/E automation.

Required Experience

Please apply if you have practical experience with:

PSS/E v34

PSS/E dynamic simulations

.sav and .dyr files

WECC inverter-based resource models

REGCA1 / REECA1 / REPCA1

BESS / solar / inverter-based resources

PJM interconnection studies

PJM Dynamic Model Development Guidelines

Voltage Ride Through testing

Reactive power / power factor capability testing

Dynamic simulation result analysis

Python/PSS/E automation

Deliverables

Expected deliverables may include:

Validated .sav / .dyr dynamic-model package

Dynamic initialization verification

Flat Start results

VRT results

Leading/lagging PF results

Frequency/MFO assessment results

PSS/E output files

Required plots and tables

Dynamic Model Report

PJM checklist/documentation

Important

We are not looking for someone to simply provide a generic PSS/E tutorial. We need someone who can work directly with the provided project files, understand the existing inverter model, perform the required dynamic tests, troubleshoot model behavior, and help produce professional PJM-compliant documentation.

Experience with PJM BESS dynamic-model validation and WECC generic inverter models is strongly preferred.

Please include:

Your PSS/E version and years of practical experience

Experience with REGCA1/REECA1/REPCA1

Previous BESS/inverter dynamic-model projects

PJM experience, if applicable

Examples of similar dynamic-model testing/reporting work

Whether you can perform Python/PSS/E automation

This is a demo/training project once it is completed with all requirements, regular work would may be assigned to expert.
Write in first " Transmission Planning" so that i can know you read completely job description. Ai and irrelevant proposal will be declined.
