Portrait-Locked Android Kiosk Webview for Android TV Box versin 9+

I need a small Android application that launches straight into a full-screen WebView, keeps the display permanently in portrait orientation, and prevents users from leaving the app (typical kiosk/lock-task mode). The only content the WebView should load is our company website; I will supply the final URL during development.

This will be installed in Android TV bOX running Android version 9&+, the site will be face recognition , USB web camera should work with it with relatime fluency & HD.

Core behaviour
• On first launch, the app should ask for (or read from a simple config file) the website URL, then open it automatically every subsequent time.
• Lock-task mode or any equivalent approach must block the Home, Recent Apps, and status bar pull-down so visitors cannot exit the session.
• Entire interface must stay in portrait; even when the device is rotated, the content may letterbox but must never switch to landscape.
• Include graceful handling for connectivity loss (e.g., offline message with retry).

Deliverables
1. Android Studio project (Java or Kotlin) with clear build instructions.
2. Signed release APK ready for sideloading.
3. Brief README covering how to change the website URL and how to disable kiosk mode for maintenance.

Acceptance criteria
The APK installs on Android 7+ tablets, opens the specified company website full-screen, cannot be rotated or escaped by normal button presses, and recovers cleanly after network interruptions.
