Plainfield Labs is running a paid gameplay-recording pilot to support AI research and development.
Pilot overview
We are hiring PC gamers to record short sessions on Windows using our OBS-based tool and upload the resulting files for review. Choose from multiple PC games you already own and are confident narrating while you play. The recordings and synchronized keyboard and mouse inputs will be reviewed as part of the pilot.
Note
Gameplay skill is not being tested. We need complete, usable gameplay footage and synchronized input data, so following the recording instructions matters more than how well you play.
What to include
* The PC games you currently play and have access to.
* Your Windows version and PC specs: CPU, GPU, and RAM.
* Any experience using OBS or other screen-recording tools.
Engagement details
This is hourly work through an hourly contract. The initial pilot is capped at two paid hours per contractor, including instructed setup, recording, active upload work, and troubleshooting within the agreed scope. Stop at the cap unless additional hours are agreed in writing.
Hourly rate
$20 / hour
Initial pilot cap
2 paid hours ($40)
Payment is for time worked, not accepted clips. There is no unpaid test recording, and time spent resolving recorder or instruction problems is paid within the agreed cap. Further work may be available but is not guaranteed.
Technical requirements
* A Windows PC capable of running the chosen game and OBS recording at the same time.
* A stable internet connection suitable for uploading video files.
* microphone to record high qality audio
* Ability to follow written instructions and communicate issues clearly.
* Access to multiple PC games you already own or can legally play; choose games you are confident narrating while you play.
* OBS or comparable screen-recording experience is preferred but not required.
No video editing or professional gaming experience is required.
Note
- Ideal applicants have screen-recording experience, preferably with OBS, and are confident playing PC games. Relevant backgrounds can include QA testing, streaming, YouTube content creation, or game development.
- games that are generally not a good fit: online FPS, sports, racing. Any game where you can narrate in detail simultaneously to playing is a good fit (3rd person RPG, RTS are good fits)
What you will do
* Install and set up the Windows recorder using our instructions.
* Record short gameplay sessions, typically around 20 minutes each, following the project brief.
* Capture game video, narrate your gameplay and decision-making as you complete the task, and record a synchronized keyboard and mouse input timeline.
* Add short action descriptions when requested.
* Upload recordings and associated files to the project portal after onboarding.
Respond to feedback about missing files, recording quality, or synchronization.
