Hi everyone,

We’re an early-stage independent writing studio producing original business blogs for lifestyle businesses. We work across real estate, travel & hospitality, home & living, beauty & personal care, and food & beverage.

We’re looking for a freelance sales representative to bring our $2,500 writing service to market through cold outbound sales.

Our standard client engagement is straightforward. We review a business’s existing body of blog content, determine four original articles we believe would be worthwhile additions, develop the concepts for the client’s approval, and then research, write, edit, and deliver all four articles. One reasonable revision round per article is included.

We don’t simply ask clients to give us four topics to write about. Part of our service is deciding what would actually be worth adding to what they’ve already built. We look at what their existing content currently gives the reader, what may be missing, and where there’s an opportunity to add something genuinely worthwhile. The four articles are determined after we’ve actually assessed the client’s existing work.

For our initial sales campaign, you’ll be selling to individual residential real estate agents in the United States who meet our targeting criteria.

Prospecting is handled separately by a dedicated researcher. You’ll receive a minimum of 100 researched prospects per week who have already been evaluated against our targeting criteria. If you can effectively work a higher volume, we’re willing to increase your prospect supply accordingly.

You’ll receive the information we’ve gathered and used to qualify each prospect, including their name, direct professional phone number, website, existing blog and publication history, along with the relevant information confirming that they meet our targeting criteria.

These are still cold prospects. We are qualifying them for fit, not purchase intent, budget, or willingness to buy. Figuring out whether there is a genuine sales opportunity is part of your job.

Before making contact, we expect you to briefly review the prospect and their existing content. From there, you own the prospect and the sales process from first contact through close.

That means cold outreach, discovery and qualification, positioning, objection handling, follow-up, managing your own calendar and pipeline, keeping prospect records current, conducting the necessary sales conversations, reviewing the service agreement with the client, getting it signed, collecting payment, and closing the sale.

We are not going to manage your calendar, tell you who needs to be followed up with, remind you when to call someone back, or organize your prospects for you. You’ll be given the prospects and the information you need to work them, and we expect you to independently manage what happens from there.

We do expect the pipeline itself to remain current and understandable. Prospect status, meaningful interactions, follow-ups, next actions, and final outcomes should be recorded as you work.

We do not currently have a standardized sales playbook or a word-for-word script. We’re looking for someone who already knows how to sell and can use their own judgment and experience from the beginning.

As we build the infrastructure for it, we’ll begin reviewing sales calls and working with you to identify what’s working, what isn’t, and what we should change. Over time, we expect to standardize more of the sales process based on what we actually learn from selling the service. You’ll be expected to apply those learnings as the process develops, and we also want candid feedback from the person actually doing the work.

Editorial assessment and fulfillment remain with us. You’re welcome to make observations about a prospect’s existing content and use them during the sales process, but you are not responsible for deciding what we should ultimately write for a client or promising a particular editorial direction during the sale.

This is a full-time, commission-only role. You’ll earn $400 USD for every completed $2,500 sale, with commissions paid weekly. Your quota is 10 completed sales per month, which is $4,000 USD at quota. Commission is uncapped. If you close more than 10 clients, you continue earning $400 for every additional completed sale.

If our immediate fulfillment capacity is full, we’ll give you the next available engagement start date. You can continue closing clients against future availability, and every additional completed sale earns the same $400 commission.

We’re looking for someone with demonstrated experience selling services through cold outbound outreach. Experience selling to small businesses, individual business owners, or real estate professionals is especially relevant.

You should be comfortable cold calling, conducting discovery, following up consistently, managing your own pipeline, and owning a sale all the way through close. This is not an appointment-setting role, and your responsibility does not end once someone expresses interest or agrees to another conversation.

You also need excellent spoken English and strong verbal communication skills. We care about more than basic fluency. You should be able to articulate ideas clearly, think on your feet, listen carefully, ask good questions, and communicate an offer naturally and persuasively without relying on a script.

We’re looking for someone who can treat this as their primary sales role and work consistently Monday through Friday on a full-time basis. You’ll manage your own daily activity rather than following a prescribed hourly call schedule.

You can be based anywhere, but you must be able to work consistently during U.S. business hours and make outbound calls during the appropriate local working hours for the markets you’re assigned.

The start date is Tuesday, September 1.

To apply, send me a private message with your location and time zone, a resume or professional profile, and an overview of your relevant cold outbound sales experience.

Tell me what you’ve personally sold, approximately what it cost, who you were selling to, what part of the sales process you owned, and what your typical activity and results looked like. Approximate numbers are completely fine.

Based on what you know about the role and service, I’d also like you to walk me through how you would generally approach selling it. From receiving and reviewing a researched prospect through first contact, discovery, qualification, follow-up, and close, how would you approach the sales process?

Our quota is 10 completed sales per month, and we guarantee a minimum of 100 new researched prospects per week. Based on your experience, how do you think about that target? Walk me through whatever assumptions you think matter, whether that’s activity, contact rates, conversion, follow-up, prospect volume, or something else.

Tell me what else you would want to know about the prospects, offer, or role before you’d be comfortable assessing the opportunity more precisely, and please be candid about any questions, concerns, or reservations you have.

Finally, let me know your current availability and confirm whether you can begin Tuesday, September 1.

If I’m interested in your written application, I’ll ask you to complete a short voice-recorded second step. There is no video requirement and I will not ask you to attend a live interview. I just need to hear how you communicate before hiring someone whose job is primarily speaking with prospects.
