I need a specialist to turn open-source information and utility data into actionable threat intelligence focused on critical grid and home-automation infrastructure. The engagement centers on three data streams I already collect or can legally obtain: live network-traffic captures, sensor and other IoT device logs, and publicly indexed material such as advisories or exploit chatter. Additionally, I will provide data from my utility companies for analysis.
The work I’m asking for: ingest those datasets, correlate them with any relevant public mentions, and surface indicators of compromise, emerging tactics, or systemic vulnerabilities that could affect residential environments. Social-media, dark-web, or mainstream-news monitoring may add context, so feel free to weave those in where they strengthen the findings. Preference is for someone local to Long Beach or LA County due to potential on-site assessments and face-to-face discussions. This will also allow the freelancer to physically inspect the environment being analyzed.
Additionally, if certified and licensed professionals are available with the necessary equipment, on-site cellular data extraction/forensics and/or hardware data extraction at the residence may be required. Note that devices will not leave the property under any circumstances.
Deliverables:
• An interactive or well-structured report outlining key threats, IOCs, and recommended mitigations
• A machine-readable feed (CSV/JSON/STIX) of the extracted indicators
• A concise methods appendix so I can reproduce or audit the process
Acceptance criteria:
• All IOCs trace back to at least two independent sources (e.g., packet capture + OSINT mention)
• Findings must map to MITRE ATT&CK or similar framework for clarity
• Scripts or notebooks provided must run on a standard Python environment without paid libraries
If you routinely work with tools such as Wireshark, Zeek, ELK, Maltego, SpiderFoot, SDRs with dongles, spectrum analyzers, or similar OSINT frameworks, you’ll be right at home. Let’s turn raw data into insights that improve security for connected homes and local grids.
